For my sanity, I have been putting in a good deal of effort to avoid gruesome imagery these days, and I don't need a fun little sugared mangled body popping up on my screen while engaging in some escapism by browsing cooking videos, thankyouverymuch
Something that I just can't wrap my head around anymore, because of everything: Cooking/baking Halloween videos that come up on my fb or instagram feed that show cutesy desserts made to look like bloody human bodies or body parts.
How is this even still a cultural thing?

Yes. But now it feels like we are in the minority, and the people *denying* the evidence--firsthand accounts, photos of bodies and carnage, videos released by the killers themselves--are in the majority. That's the way it feels on my feed, at least.
