[eulogy cont.] Commander slipped swiftly, peacefully into surcease from pain. He died with dignity, with his pride and spirit intact, and with a cookie in his mouth.

[eulogy] Commander went to his rest [that] morning at a little past 10:00, ending his drawn-out, roller-coaster, ultimately unwinnable battle with founder. He walked slowly but resolutely out of the barn, into the sunlight, and stood foursquare with his head high as we gave him our last gift.

Commander (reg.Beyond Command0, a Morgan I had for a few years until laminitis took him. A smart, confident horse who liked to test the human's limits but was always a pleasure to be around.
