Earlier this week I was able to get on a Northern train with about 15 minutes to go. You can normally only get on once the train in front, which leaves about five minutes before my train, has left. End times indeed.

That's that glorious bloke at the end who did that hilarious video looking for Zack in G&D. Could never work out if it was meant to be a spoof or not.

Why are we even having Olympics? Elite sport has become a parody of itself.

Can old white men in suits just shut up for a few months? Imagine what the rest us could do with just a little peace and quiet.

Too right. Environmentalists are not harmless to those currently benefiting the most from our unequal world where resources and power are held by the few.

And anybody who understands anything about the environment knows we won't improve that without dealing with the unequal way the world works at the moment.

Follow the money. Rich people hardly ever want good things for everyone. We need a free press.

It's nuts to have buses going through there. Obviously bus routes are important, but there are so many people all over the place most of the time that it's not a great shared space!

If you live in the UK, read Elia's article, send it to everyone you know and get to work. This is a critical period in British history and things will get very bad if we don't turn this around. There is much to do and the stakes are huge but we have 3.5 years to make things better. Do it. Please πŸ™

Oh wow. Switzerland in the Peak District possible and now cycle links in the Lake District. Brilliant! Let's get behind these proposals with everything we can!

That's because of the way the company is being run - parcels rule. Competition was brought in because of EU rules - and now we're not even in the EU!

Tomorrow night's #Railnatter is a biggie - given the criticality of the Gorton and Denton by-election, we'll be diving into one of the big issues that matters for local folk: TRANSPORT, and how far off good it is on this side of Manchester.

I had a conversation with a head of bus operations who said not many people take the bus to a rail station. Then they started running regular services to a rail station and lo and behold...

Definitely need this in the Hope Valley, and hopefully the rest of the Peak District. Bakewell is suffocating under traffic congestion and reliable buses that run on Sundays, bank holidays and in the evenings and link up with trains are desperately needed!

'Mini Switzerland' plan for Peak District transport network The idea would see buses arriving before trains pull into stations to improve connectivity.

Fantastic to see my Mini Switzerland idea covered by the BBC.

It captures so many people’s imaginations because it’s both obvious, simple and yet - from where we are today - unspeakably radical.

Please share!

Only logical conclusion is that having extreme wealth always produces mental illness.

As well as community groups we need reliable, affordable and frequent (more than once every two hours) public transport in much of the country. Otherwise people can't get to all those lovely activities.

The Schools White Paper is a vital opportunity to reform school support so that it works for all children. Changing Realities parents, who are all raising children on a low income, have set out what they would like to see in the White Paper on SEND reforms, parental engagement, and on the government’s approach to enrichment. Parents want to work directly with government to deliver the ambitious changes needed. While we may not agree on everything, one thing on which we all – and we believe government too – do agree is that the current system of SEND support is completely broken, and requires urgent and radical reform.

'Principles for the Schools White Paper' published today - from parents who know exactly what change is needed and why: www.changingrealities.org/writings/pri...

A London lawyer bought the land under Southport homeowners' houses. Then the threats began 'Please agree that your house will be demolished within a reasonable period'

The solicitor Andrew Milne has been found guilty of stalking at Stratford Magistrates Court today.

Post readers will remember our investigation into him last year, where we revealed he had been threatening home owners in Southport‡️
