Our results challenge the prevailing model that avidity necessarily leads to mechanically robust linkages; instead, we show how mechanosensitivity can arise as an intrinsic, nonequilibrium property of multivalency. 10/13

Here it is ! the discovery of a self-replicating RNA sequence ! Congratulations to all the authors ! it sounds like a major breakthrough in our understanding of the origin of life.
Last days to apply this position in our group! Do join us in this great Institute @crg.eu, with great colleagues, and help shaping the science and culture of our lab!
lots of comets seem to emerge from the cytosol and not so many from the centrosome π§
is this commercially available?

#SynBYSS conference is scheduled on Jun 8-11, 2026 in Barcelona. Given the 100-year celebration of Architect Gaudi in Barcelona, we suggest early booking of hotels.
Details can be found: www.jcvi.org/events/synbyss (speakers, abstract submission & registration)
@jcvi.org @marcguellc.bsky.social
This weekend we projected cells and filaments on the roof of the @museeorsay.bsky.social in Paris, then we contracted it with a pinch of myosin.
And it was fabulous!
Grateful to have been part of this art/science project & thx to @manuelthery.bsky.social @lblanchoin.bsky.social & the CytoMorphoLab
Nice video, Alfredo! But why don't you show your nice unpublished contribution? Fear of being scooped? The Orsay Museum is worth all the journals!
A few seconds of eternity: From microscope to museumβ£οΈ
It was truly delightful to be part of this project, celebrating life as a continuous dance of creation, collapse, and renewal. π
Kudos to @manuelthery.bsky.social @lblanchoin.bsky.social #cytomorpholab members, and @museeorsay.bsky.social
and certainly in you Buzz!
Huge congrats to @manuelthery.bsky.social and all the Cytomorpho lab. The "Living Architectures" performance at @museeorsay.bsky.social was breathtakingly beautiful
Last night @museeorsay.bsky.social we saw fluorescence images of cells or protein filaments seemingly grow along the internal structures of the ceiling of the main hallway. It was mesmerising I loved it Science is Art! More of this please! Congratulations @manuelthery.bsky.social very cool π€©π€
wow! thank you Emilie for these beautiful movies!

Tubulin controls the number of microtubules!
"Perhaps the most exciting place to be is just beyond the trend: informed by it but not confined by it."
Congratulations! This is a truly outstanding PhD work!
Summer program for workshops at the Aspen Center for Physics
With @tzerhan29.bsky.social, @jasnir.bsky.social and Asja Radja, we are thrilled to organize an Aspen summer workshop (Aug 9-Sept 6) on the "Physics of Collective Function in Active Living Matter". Applications are open at aspenphys.org/event/physic... till Jan 15!!
Please share and apply soon!
A speculative model of ion channel NOMPC bound to a segment of microtubule (both from Drosophila melanogaster). NOMPC surface model is shown in shades of pink, Ξ±-tubulin in white, and Ξ²-tubulin in sky blue. https://www.rcsb.org/structure/5VKQ https://www.rcsb.org/structure/3J2U https://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimerax/
If you like sproinger and microtubule, behold NOMPC/TRPN, sensor of gentle touch in flies and fish! Cell deformation and microtubule movements are thought to compress the spring-like ankyrin repeats and in turn gate the channel.
not yet bundled, but already undergoing a interesting remodelling.
Non-motile microbes are not prisoners of diffusive transport. Just their metabolic activity can be sufficient to stir up the ambient fluid and cause explosive long-range dispersal -- a "metabolic firework".
Our latest work -- arxiv.org/abs/2512.16288
What is more, this metabolic firework can result in fractal morphogenesis of the resulting colony. We think this is due to a hydrodynamic analogue of Diffusion Limited Aggregation, which we term Circulation Driven Aggregation.
thanks Alexis for pointing at great papers!
