One of Istanbul's major urban problems is traffic, and the Metrobus provides the visual cue to drivers that it'd be way quicker catching the bus than being stuck in traffic.
Where have you been with amazing public transport? Where should I visit next?
The experience of riding the metrobus was chaotic, with lots of pushing to get on and standing in crowds for a significant duration. Would I change it? No, it's such an effective way of moving the locals and visitors of this 15 million population megacity.
I used the Istanbul Kart (integrated travel card) to easily travel around, costing only 35 lira (Β£0.63) per journey, available to use on all forms of public transport (trams, buses, metrobuses, metro and ferries).
I crossed continents via bus. Here's how it went:
The Metrobus network in Istanbul is extensive. It cuts through the middle of congested highways at speed and with high frequency. The buses themselves are high-capacity, with a culture of giving up seats to those who need them.
Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.

Absolutely astounded that the UCU and Unison branches at Kent and Greenwich were not consulted, and that staff only found out about the merger this morning via BBC news and Kent Online. Solidarity to all colleagues.
Exciting times, the first EDI event has been added to our SharePoint site
A personal thread about perceived threat vs actual threat, fear and flags, because recent events around asylum seekers in the UK and the flag based responses, and the way they are discussed in the media is really bothering me 1/
