No Clemency for Tina Peters Before Completion of Court-Imposed Sentence Text SIGN PENRQQ to 50409 โ€” I am writing again to express my strong opposition to any clemency or transfer of custody for former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters before she serves the full sentence imposed by the court. Ms. Peters was convicted of multiple crimes related to the breach of Coloradoโ€™s election systems. Her actions were not a minor technical violation. They involved abusing the authority of a public office to allow unauthorized access to sensitive election infrastructure. Conduct of that nature directly undermines the integrity of the democratic process that every Colorado voter relies upon. Recent comparisons between Ms. Petersโ€™ sentence and the probation given to former State Senator Sonya Jacquez Lewis overlook the fundamental differences between the two cases. While both defendants were convicted under the same statute for attempting to influence a public servant, the underlying conduct, number of felony counts, and aggravating factors were substantially different. Ms. Petersโ€™ case involved multiple felony convictions tied to election system access and misuse of official authority. The court considered those broader circumstances when determining the sentence. The judicial process already evaluated the facts, the law, and the aggravating factors before imposing a penalty. Overriding that outcome through clemency would send a damaging message that crimes involving election infrastructure and public trust can be softened through political intervention. Equally concerning is the external political pressure surrounding this case. Coloradoโ€™s justice system should not appear to yield to demands from national political figures or federal officials. The rule of law in our state depends on maintaining confidence that sentences imposed by the courts will be carried out. Election officials across Colorado have endured threats and harassment fueled by misinformation about our voting systems. Allowing Ms. Peters to avoid serving the full sentence would further erode trust in the institutions that safeguard our elections. For these reasons, I urge you to allow the courtโ€™s sentence to stand and ensure that Ms. Peters serves the full term imposed.

there's a thing I like to call "load-bearing assumptions", that you don't notice until they're suddenly gone (e.g the air you breath has oxygen in it).

the post-ww2 order is a load-bearing assumption for basically the entirety of american life. trump took a sledgehammer to it in the last 90 days.

Cosponsor and Vote Yes on H.R.2352 to Abolish Super PACs Text SIGN PXDHNK to 50409 โ€” I am writing to urge you to cosponsor H.R.2352, the Abolish Super PACs Act, and push for immediate hearings and a vote on this critical legislation. For over a decade, Super PACs have served as legal loopholes that allow corporations and the ultra-wealthy to pump unlimited, often anonymous money into our elections. This system has poisoned electoral discourse and handed disproportionate power to billionaires while drowning out the voices of ordinary voters like me. H.R.2352 represents the strongest legislation currently in Congress to end this abuse. The bill caps donations to Super PACs at $5,000 per person per year, closes the coordination loophole that allows candidates and PACs to operate as one team while claiming independence, and restores electoral integrity by shifting power from billionaires back to the people. These provisions directly address the mechanisms that have corrupted our democratic process. The American people overwhelmingly support this reform. A New York Times and CBS poll found that 78% of Americans across party lines support limiting Super PAC money. This is not a partisan issue. It is about whether our elected officials work for their constituents or their donors. Despite this broad public support, Congress has refused to act. Many members benefit from the current system, but that cannot be an excuse for continued inaction. Our democracy depends on representatives who will prioritize the will of the people over the interests of wealthy donors. I am asking you to take three specific actions: cosponsor H.R.2352, speak out publicly in favor of abolishing Super PACs, and push leadership for hearings and a vote with no more stalling. Your constituents deserve to know where you stand on this fundamental question of democratic accountability.

Stop sending pregnant women & girls to Texas detention camps! Text SIGN PBPLWS to 50409 โ€” Pregnant immigrant children, as young as 13, and half of them pregnant as a result of rape, are being intentionally taken to Texas to be detained where there is no possibility for them to obtain an abortion. This is outrageous. Pregnancy for a 13 year old is high risk. In Texas women are dying because doctors are afraid to give lifesaving care to women whose pregnancies go wrong. They are dying of sepsis, ectopic pregnancies, and other conditions that that standard of healthcare and saving the womanโ€™s life is abortion. 13 year old girls shouldnโ€™t be forced into this situation. Their bodies are often not ready to go through pregnancy and birth, much less their minds. No one should be forced to carry their rapistโ€™s baby. No one should be forced to continue a life threatening pregnancy. Women and girls should not be transported to Texas in order to deprive them of their rights, to deprive them of adequate healthcare, to force them to give birth. Please do something about this terrible situation.

Oppose Joint Resolution to Nullify Grand Staircase-Escalante Management Plan Text SIGN PNWBTA to 50409 โ€” I urge you to vote NO on Senator Mike Lee's joint resolution to nullify the Bureau of Land Management's management plan for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This resolution represents a dangerous misuse of the Congressional Review Act that would erase years of collaborative work and set a destructive precedent for public lands management nationwide. The management plan being targeted was finalized in January 2025 after years of public input, tribal consultation, and scientific review. It governs the fully restored 1.9-million-acre monument that President Biden reinstated in 2021. The plan prioritizes conservation science, protects globally significant fossil beds, limits new mineral leasing, and formalizes a larger role for tribal co-management. Local leaders, communities, tribal nations, scientists, and experts invested substantial time and expertise to develop this framework for one of the most scientifically and culturally significant landscapes in the United States. Overturning this plan would remove critical protections for some of the most astounding fossil beds in our country and eliminate safeguards for areas sacred to local tribes. The consequences extend far beyond this single monument. Under the Congressional Review Act, if this resolution passes, the BLM would be permanently barred from issuing another rule that is "substantially the same" in the future. The agency could never restore a similar management framework for Grand Staircase-Escalante. The broader implications are equally alarming. Using the CRA to attack land use plans establishes a precedent that puts every similar management plan at risk on federal lands across the country. These plans typically do not go through formal rulemaking procedures and have never been considered "rules" under the CRA. Critically, CRA actions cannot be challenged in court, meaning there would be no legal remedy if this extensively researched plan simply disappears with a majority vote. This coordinated effort by Representative Celeste Maloy and Senator Mike Lee threatens to dismantle protections built through legitimate public processes. I ask you to stand with science, tribal sovereignty, and responsible land stewardship by voting NO on this resolution.
