Alternatively: every other issue besides immigration is stronger ground for Ds to attack Trump so Ds should stay on message talking about their strong issues (the economy) and try to pivot to that when asked about immigration. Gaining any ground anywhere helps everywhere.

Disgraceful for Gavin to call it a "distraction" but sadly his instincts are correct. The Abrego Garcia case is too niche and Trump's approval on immigration is still well above 50%. Trump's destruction of our economy is really breaking through so economy is the best thing for D's to talk about.
