Observing the digital picket line again, in support of Northumbria staff, so teaching and conference bits and pieces will be shared at the weekend instead.
Right now I am joining colleagues @ucunorthumbria.bsky.social on picket. I should be preparing for a seminar today on barricade fighting and 1848. Do you know how *hard* it is for me to not be doing this session?! Thatβs how much we care about this action in defence of pensions, pay, and bargaining.

Ah, I haven't read the novel but I'm familiar with the general plot from seeing a stage adaptation. No - it only adapts the first half, and there are characters missing/changed. It tries to make Heathcliff more of a romantic figure.

So much of this struck me when I saw the film today.
I'd say boring, definitely, and I felt the leads were miscast. I also wasn't a fan of much of the aesthetics.

Loved the Hall of Mirrors-influenced design, and the soft subtlety of the mannequin wigs which allowed the dresses to shine.
It's actually embarrassing that I've never watched the Sofia Coppola film, I need to rectify that.
