I have some more beta work to do and I’m also theoretically still working on the next kink AU fic. I’ve been really unmotivated about writing recently though so we’ll see if that actually happens.

Those people unfortunately often have their worldview reinforced, too, because people will eventually just start agreeing with them to get them to leave them alone. My ex-roommate was like that and the only solution was refusing to live with them anymore so we no longer had to deal with it lmao.

Some people genuinely cannot seem to grasp that other people have different experiences, opinions, needs, interests, and preferences from them, and are unshakeably certain that if they just explain themselves well enough you’ll come around to their way of thinking and realize they were right.

I’m a bit younger than you and I’m just impressed at how rapidly the prevailing opinion when I was a kid did a reversal into “bi men are actually just gay men who can’t accept their homosexuality, it’s bisexual women who are doing it for (male) attention.”

In honour of your birthday, and I am being sincere in this, I’m planning to do our Canadian taxes this weekend.

I just love how their appeals to “biology” never seem to go beyond a primary school understanding of genetics, don’t you? And how they treat “chromosomes” like some kind of immutable spiritual reality that will always ultimately win out. Just how far have they rejected Christianity exactly?

The only one who somehow makes it work is Wang Haoxuan, who treats it like it’s the real hair on his head and actually tosses it around and lets it get messy.

The edgelord atheists—pretty much all of whom are culturally Christian—are also very much a problem, only they’ve swapped in “nature/[their very narrow view of] ‘science’” for “God.” Ironically they don’t seem to realize they’re using the exact same talking points, just different specific words.

Unfortunately there are many sources for transphobia and Christianity is definitely one of them. Whether it was the original intent of the texts isn’t really material—there are quite a lot of people whose revulsion for us comes out of “you’re going against the way God made you, repent.”

I think about this a lot tbh, my parents are both in their sixties and are still very energetic, physically capable, handsome people. My husband’s parents are younger but look “older.” Whether people still look “young” as they age has so much more to do with health and exercise than literal age.

Butting in on a discussion between friends with unsolicited self-promotion is both annoying and rude, consider not doing that in the future.

In Canadian ranks—which are certainly similar to (among others) US and UK but I have not checked to unequivocally state that they're the same—a navy captain is equivalent to a colonel, a navy lieutenant is equivalent to an army captain, and an army lieutenant is equivalent to a sub-lieutenant.

Thing that annoys me unduly which I had forgotten about until I started looking at old OC docs where military rank is relevant: there are ranks in the army/air force called "captain" and "lieutenant." There are also ranks in the navy called "captain" and "lieutenant." These ranks are not equivalent.
