Official map of KC metro bus route 50 starting on the east by Othello station, looping further east to Seward Park, through Columbia city, looping into and out of the VA hospital, into SODO, back south, across the WS bridge, into WS, Alaska Junction, ending at Alki
As a south Seattleite, transit rider, and urban studies nerd, I truly appreciate the utter chaos of the @kingcountymetro.bsky.social route 50 getting me east to west, but it has me wondering what other absolutely bizarre, city-spanning routes we have??? Anyone care to share??

I have a rule that anywhere that requires me to make more than one bus transfer is not worth it. Tragically, today, going from north beacon hill Dr appt to a get together in Greenwood is forcing me to break my rule 😭😭😭

Saka: People Who Support Keeping "Curby" Are Anti-Immigrant, Radical "Defund the Police" Carpetbaggers - PubliCola
By Erica C. Barnett In a 2,100-word, emoji-filled email blast (that’s about three times the length of this post!) announcing…
Rob Saka has got to be one of the most ridiculous humans I’ve ever come across. I was laughing out loud throughout this @publicola.bsky.social article because it genuinely sounds like a needling/onion style piece even though it is completely real

Agreed. Didn’t even know CWC was coming to Seattle until a few months ago. Been looking forward to the WC for the better part of a decade.

That resulted in a more democratically created policy than anything that passes a legislature or council. If you want real change, do as @jacobinmag.bsky.social says, look to your local initiatives.

Additionally, as the policy advisor for Seattles social housing initiative, I can confidently say that the the amount of community input we got in the development of I-135 was far more extensive than any elected would ever seek. We spent months talking to impacted people and experts…

As the @jacobinmag.bsky.social piece discusses, leftist policies that aim to make economic justice &social services more accessible pass easily when brought to the public. These are things that elected leaders (who are incentivized to be incrementalists in order to get re-elected) would never do…

I’d love to hear their ideas for pedestrian safety on MLK! I’m sure I’m far from the only person to care about this, but there are so many dangerous intersections and cars drive insanely fast especially from rainier on south

I LOVE it when “vigilantes” in Seattle put up unofficial stop signs and cross walks. The reports of “vigilante stop signs” in Capitol Hill has truly brightened my day

So much scuttle on Reddit abt the hatred of no right on red signs. I can’t fathom being mad @ something that tangibly saves lives. Is ur convenience REALLY more important than a ped’s life? I don’t drive much but sometimes borrow a car &KNOW that Ive been prevented of hitting a ped bc of the signs

It’s so frustrating that if I, a white girl on my way to work, fall asleep briefly on a morning commute on the link, it’s treated as “she’s tired& needed the extra rest”
But someone w/ a lot of bags who is using the link as a place to rest is loudly, rudely, abruptly woken up by transit security.

Throwback to when I nerded out in Hong Kong every time I saw a sign for a *free* public restroom. They were everywhere, with clear signage.

Being on the same side of a bill as Tim Eyman (even if it’s for extremely different reasons) is a jarring feeling.
Tim says no new taxes
I say no new funds for cops

Am i just a huge nerd or does anyone else enjoy when they get called by pollsters? I love hearing what PACs think is important to people or about preliminary policy proposals. I’ve never understood why so many people refuse or ignore polls

Metro to start checking fares on the bus is another way to criminalize the poor. A reminder to all who don’t pay, you do not need to show fare enforcement your ID — tell them you forgot it if you run into an issue.

A constantly important reminder to myself that WE DO NOT STAN POLITICIANS, only policies.
Supporting social housing but not the critical policies that facilitate its effective development is a wild take.
Yes to:
social housing ✅
public banking ✅
middle housing ✅
single stair ✅
parking reform ✅

It is absolutely wild to claim that a monopolistic housing provider is the same as the government wanting to provide housing. Government provides housing for the public benefit. Monopolies controlled by profit-seeking entities use their power to price gouge and provide sub-standard housing

Also, whats so funny about all of this is that the reason it was in February instead of November is thanks to the conservative @seattletimes-rss.bsky.social -backed council. They’re pissy that turnout of the conservative electorate was low but they chose to have an off-year, off-month election
