The NASCAR cup series makes their 3rd stop of the season, traveling to Austin, Texas for the Duramax Grand Prix. 37 cars will take to the grid for 228 miles of racing in the capital.

Ignoring all the politics, etc…this is very, very good news for NWS and meteorologists. Really, some of the best news we could have hoped for. Now we just need to get our labs, CIs, etc protected and funded.

The administration needs to be held accountable for any impacts of reckless NWS staffing reductions. The impacts of sudden early retirements and departures on experience and communication with communities will be felt for years.
