I understand the reason for this. It is an Infinite Worlds timeline. Infinite Worlds is full of timelines that IW scientists understand don't make sense and are forced to roll with. As an IW timeline, the 1980/90s setup is actually pretty good and playable.

That's why I keep thinking about it in terms of Wild Talents. You can actually get away with a lot of the early Confederate wank by going with the idea that William Walker was a Talent. But the timeline keeps having to give the Confederates an out to work.

Why not the British? Well, you see, the British lost the war so that navy is gone-zo. Unlike the Confederates, who lost the war even harder and has to build and support an army to police 70 million non-whites internally + square off with the US Army.

How do I know this? Because the United States had just jumped the Confederates for being distracted in Europe two decades earlier! The Confederates who, in this timeline, somehow have the *second largest navy on the fucking planet* behind the GERMANS.

It also strains belief that the United States, which apparently struggled to contain the Confederates and carve out more than a few territories after WW1 *despite the Confederates going bankrupt* would send most of their men to fight and die in Europe and ignore the Confederates.

There's no scenario where the Confederates lose WW1 and, somehow, are able to build a fleet and army capable of landing troops in Shikoku in 1944. That's ridiculous!

The timeline relies on the tired trope of "Confederate military genius" but no amount of "military genius" fixes the problem of trying to wage a manpower intensive trench war during economic collapse when 40% of your population live as second or third-class citizens or Actual Slaves.

The problem with the Dixie timeline is that WW1 starts in 1914. CSA and USA slug it out. European theater closes in 1919 with Germany victory. The Confederacy is forced to surrender *after bankruptcy* in 1921 after SEVEN years of trench warfare. The CSA would not be a power after this.

One reason I don't really love this timeline is that, to avoid the United States and Confederate States actually going to war in WW2, the US is called to assist Germany against France while the CSA's base at Pearl Harbor is attacked by Japan. Deeply unsatisfactory.

Anyway we must destroy this abomination.

I dislike most "Confederates win" timelines, but Dixie from GURPS Alternate GURPS describing the post-WW2 "peace" between the USA and CSA "The Long Drum Roll" and the brief detente before the US elected a black president "Parade Rest" actually works for me, what can I say.

I once treated a guy with a massive back piece that was straight out of Geiger, think overlapping skulls in a mobius strip winding around a cross. Someone asked him if he planned to add flames and he said "No, that's KKK shit" and he was a white boy from Alabama. Come on now.

To make my point I was going to link to some solos I've enjoyed recently on Itch but, in typical Itch fashion, the website is down.

I've been more excited for solo roleplaying games the year or so now than traditional TTRPG experiences because it feels like that space has greater diversity in design and experience right now.

Third to that: I get it, I'm neurospicy too. Gonna work with awareness of that. It's a root cause of the aforementioned problems. But in the end it's a social hobby. There's a line where your behaviours impact others and you don't get to use it as an excuse. Use it as a chance to improve, not fester

Too much of the RPG scene glorifies a scrappy grassroots aesthetic to the point it sabotages good design.

Not every game has to be crunchy and meticulously detailed, but it's glorification of vibegaming and repulsion to any inkling of polish has lead to a hobby full of products with no integrity.
