I agree. From the Wikipedia article:
"Grotius has been called the 'father of international law.'"
"SQLite is ~156,000 lines of C. ... It has 100% branch coverage and 100% MC/DC (Modified Condition/Decision Coverage the standard required for Level A aviation software under DO-178C). ...

Wow. Donald Knuth is currently 88. Born in 1938, before Colossus (1944), ENIAC (1945/1946), etc..
America is clearly filled with geniuses...
OK, I had to Google that:
"The measles vaccine was first introduced and licensed in the United States in 1963. The mumps vaccine was first licensed shortly after in 1967. A combined MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine was subsequently introduced and licensed in 1971." All sounds very woke 😉.
It's like we have our own Oskar Dirlewanger as "Secretary of War": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirlewa...
I just had a Zoom call with both God and Jesus (no really)! They say they're too busy having a good time in heaven, and we'll have to figure this out ourselves. Apparently Armageddon has been delayed indefinitely, and they just don't care anymore. They claim to be "working on" a YouTube channel.
Summary graphic titled "His Best Work vs. His Worst", shown successes and failures of the predictions Gary Marcus has made about AI.
Is there an AI summary of it somewhere I can read? I'll get my coat...
OK, enough of this strongman, Orbán-style nonsense. I want the real, democratic America back!

I had to Google.
Google: "On January 27, 1967, astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee died in a flash fire inside the Apollo 1 Command Module during a pre-launch test on the launchpad at Cape Kennedy."

Heh. And in the brave new world of polymarket...
Google: "Polymarket removed the market betting on whether the Artemis II crewed moon rocket would explode. The platform took down this specific market because it created a potential financial incentive for sabotage, according to The Economist."
Probably will be removed for promoting "DEI" 😂.
I'm afraid someone like the straight-arm-saluting, Musk might take it even further than that, if you get my drift.
How many people are still driving Swasticars?
We don't care about the Supreme Court or Congress. It's the dear-leader's will that must be followed.

I share your skepticism about how useful humaniod robots are (at least "short" term).
But, come on, building the hardware and software to get robots to dance like that is still hella impressive!
It's like computers playing chess. Not so useful, but it points where things are going, long term.
On the other hand, I'm willing to bet that Elon's Optimus team, Boston-Dynamics/Hyundai and the Pentagon were all quite impressed and concerned. Given the Chinese progress from last year.
Well, on one level, you make a valid point. The WSJ-sourced article you recently posted does a good job of listing all the big qualifiers: (Here without the WSJ paywall:)

"Tesla is yet to sell its ... humanoid robot Optimus.
Instead, it's likely a slew of Chinese companies that will beat Tesla to the punch and begin ramping up production of robots in 2026, as Beijing puts the technology at the center of its strategic plans."
On the other hand, China seems to be doing pretty good with their robots: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPRI...
Copied from Wikipedia: Richard Walther Darré addressing a meeting of the farming community in Goslar on 13 December 1937 standing in front of a Reichsadler and Swastika crossed with a sword and wheat sheaf labelled Blood and Soil (from the German Federal Archive)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_a...
Blood and soil (German: Blut und Boden, pronounced [ˈbluːt ʊnt ˈboːdn̩] ⓘ) is a nationalist phrase and concept of a racially defined national body ("Blood") united with a settlement area ("Soil").
