I heard the theory that the nodding will mean its a Bobbin head series
I heard the theory that the nodding will mean its a Bobbin head series
BTW: To go full conspiracy - in the same video he said that he had the idea of starting the new season after time has passed with Mel seeking out his former friends, knocking on their doors and claiming "Its time"....
OTOH: In the interview with Tudyk (around the time he did the Convention Man - thing) where he said, he would play Washs, twin brother, he also said, that he would start the new season with Mel knocking at doors of the other crew members and telling them "Its time".
So this COULD be a deep cut
Addendum: Mind you: There was no announcement yet. I find it at least as likely that they are teasoning a documentry about Firefly as a new season (for the reasons stated in the thread).
Its been 20 years. Maybe the reavers one and this is a secret, serielised version of Zombieland - Double tap
I mean story must be different, when everyones 20 years older.
They cant exactly pick up where they left.
Maybe they all run a haianese chicken place now π
Yeah, we dont know whether Wheadon would be part of it (if it is indeed happenibg). It would not work with him attached.
If I could dream I ould use Sorkin to write nstead of Wheadon
I think there are ways to keep parts of the cadt and mix with new blood. But the writing is the crucial point.
So the new characters offer chances for new storylines imho
Tudyk said in an interview once that he rallied to play Washs twin brother, who also can fly but has a very different personality
Jayne can have died or left and there is a new mercenary. Instead of Sheperd (who died) you have a different character. I dont see problems, really. IF the writing fits
So all in all: Way too many open questions to get excited
(I wanted to add a gif of lif taylor asking "Not even a little bit excited?" to Bruce banner, but there is none? Anyway: imagine it here)
4) In-universe will have moved on, so I dont mind that Serenity gave an ending. There are stories here. But with lesser character work, its just anothef SF series of which we had much mord than 20+ years ago, nostalgia can only carry so far
3) Main problem: The series was great bc of the writing, especially the dialogue (plots where hit and muss) and character work.
It will be a very tall order to recapture that. Im doubtful here
sidenote1: Issues -like lack of Asians-could be dealth with,A reboot will certainly ontroduce new stuff anyway. I see no problem there
sidenote 2: The problematic ppl attached to the original, especially Wheadon: If they are on board,it will be a mistake. Before the announcement too early to tell
I have complicated feelings about this.
1st : I believe it when I see it. Who knows what marketing stunt they pull.
2nd: Lets pretend it is real:
There is too little known
1/x
I think Tudyk once suggested he played Washs twin brother.
Danke!
Pandora: So all I have to do is not open this box?
Alex Horne: All the information is on the task.
That would be a list-article, that I would actually read.
Reviewers: if something doesn't seem right about a game, please take a moment to re-read the rules or even reach out to the publisher or designer for clarification before publishing a review. That extra step can save heartache and damaged reputation on both sides.
First: That sucks.
Second: I agree: When something feels off 9 out of 10 (at least) its because I botched a rule somewhere (and it might be somewhere unrelated like at set up).
So please doublecheck!

A long read from me today, about the delicate task of designing respectful historical board games. Massive thanks to @amabel.bsky.social and @colewehrle.bsky.social for talking to me about their design approaches. www.wargamer.com/board-games/...

@amabel.bsky.social is right on when she talks about historical games often just have a gloss of a textbook. In an investigation of the subject (in a book)the author not just states facts, but puts them into perspective. A bg does this through play, and has to be deisgned accordingly. Many fail there
