Eight worlds is brilliant but soft spot for Persistence of Vision. John took ideas from 70s/80s science and really worked with them. His work on gender fluidity was so prescient.
Was just thinking about #JohnVarley sad to hear he had passed. First read persistence of vision collection in 1978. His writing blew my mind. Been a staple since and reread his work regularly. Amazing SF author taking technology and extrapolating to the nth degree. Thank you John RIP
