*David Attenborough voice* β€˜And now, as happens every few years, the council starts its regular consultation into transport in Cambridge. It is almost ritualistic. They will issue a grand report, make a grand plan, then do nothing at all. In a decade, the cycle will start again.’

Coffee bags, one is Tom of Finland with a Tom of Finland image on it. The other is Moomin with a Moomin leaning on a blueberry. More details: in the photograph of two "Art Roast" coffee bags on the shelf of a store with prices in euros. One of the bags is large and black and says HEAVY DUTY dark roast coffee beans, exclusive blend by Robert [I can't read it, it's in script]. The other is blue and says Blueberry coffee.

Nice AI-image-generating tool, but it will never be as great an artist as Onfim, a child who lived in the Novgorod Republic in the mid-1200s and who scribbled these drawings and schoolwork writings on birch bark at the age of 6 or 7.

AI is going to trash every single way that we had modernised university teaching and send us back to handwritten exams and vivas for every assessment. Which will bring back every problem with those assessment models (and make us seem even more out-of-touch even as we just try to do meaningful work).

worst thing about uni students using AI for essays is that they don't even seem to be doing it so they can spend more time in the club, I'd have marginally more respect for them if their goal was to maximise their partying time, what are they even doing with the time AI frees up for them

The AI bubble RAM crisis is caused for non-existent problems by non-existent money for a non-existent infrastructure to meet non-existent demand to make non-existent business and will utterly destroy real business based on real demand and real infrastructure built with real money for real problems.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022

Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

Lines of academy cadets, one in command red seated but at attention while in a wheelchair.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

The beauty of Xiahoe a mummy from the Xiaohe cemetery wears a necklace of fermented dairy, cheese or kefir or something like that that points to another direction of creation for kefir coming from the east and not just in Caucasus area. It's from 1800BCE roughly and it's very well preserved since the arid climate and saline sands kept her very very well.

This mummy was discovered in the early 21st century wearing a necklace made of ...fermented dairy. The exact type of dairy is still up for debate but it could be kefir or similar...Lets find the long history of fermented dairy in Central Asia here:
