*David Attenborough voice* βAnd now, as happens every few years, the council starts its regular consultation into transport in Cambridge. It is almost ritualistic. They will issue a grand report, make a grand plan, then do nothing at all. In a decade, the cycle will start again.β
What a surprise: Experts are warning that far from being over diagnosed, people with ADHD are waiting too long for assessment, support and treatment.
In a new British Journal of Psychiatry study experts say no robust evidence of ADHD over-diagnosis in UK www.nottingham.ac.uk/news/no...

Coffee bags, one is Tom of Finland with a Tom of Finland image on it. The other is Moomin with a Moomin leaning on a blueberry. More details: in the photograph of two "Art Roast" coffee bags on the shelf of a store with prices in euros. One of the bags is large and black and says HEAVY DUTY dark roast coffee beans, exclusive blend by Robert [I can't read it, it's in script]. The other is blue and says Blueberry coffee.
ah yes, the two genders
βthe story of making AI βsafeβ is fundamentally a story about class, about which humans absorb the costs so that other humans never have to think about them.β

A sequel image of Little Mari and her dragon friend making toast (thanks to a friend giving me a prompt)
Onfimβs drawing of himself on horseback as a warrior defeating an enemy.
Two of Onfimβs works. On the left is a copy of a passage from the Book of Psalms he did for schoolwork. On the right is an apparently autobiographical depiction of a monster labeled with βI am a wild beast.β
Some more spelling practice by Onfim with some human figures who have round heads and varying numbers of fingers on their big hands.
Onfimβs writing practice accompanied by 7 little people in his particular drawing style, who tend to have very big hands with many fingers.
Nice AI-image-generating tool, but it will never be as great an artist as Onfim, a child who lived in the Novgorod Republic in the mid-1200s and who scribbled these drawings and schoolwork writings on birch bark at the age of 6 or 7.
AI is going to trash every single way that we had modernised university teaching and send us back to handwritten exams and vivas for every assessment. Which will bring back every problem with those assessment models (and make us seem even more out-of-touch even as we just try to do meaningful work).
Comic. [Person is sitting at a desk with a laptop, turned toward voice coming from off-panel.] VOICE FROM OFF-PANEL: I got you the ingredients for dinner tonight. Oh, and the plums in the fridge drawer are for my yogurt tomorrow; you should just leave them. Be back later! PERSONβS THOUGHT BUBBLE: Oh no. [caption] Help. It actually happened. I shouldnβt. But how can I not!?

worst thing about uni students using AI for essays is that they don't even seem to be doing it so they can spend more time in the club, I'd have marginally more respect for them if their goal was to maximise their partying time, what are they even doing with the time AI frees up for them
The AI bubble RAM crisis is caused for non-existent problems by non-existent money for a non-existent infrastructure to meet non-existent demand to make non-existent business and will utterly destroy real business based on real demand and real infrastructure built with real money for real problems.
These are so lovely! Perfect example.
As I sit here with my head on my desk once again, I implore people to understand that universities are not just 'big schools'.
this is devastating
Letterboxd screenshot Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022 Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.
i often think about this review
God forbid a woman have a hobby.
Lines of academy cadets, one in command red seated but at attention while in a wheelchair.
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."
That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.
The beauty of Xiahoe a mummy from the Xiaohe cemetery wears a necklace of fermented dairy, cheese or kefir or something like that that points to another direction of creation for kefir coming from the east and not just in Caucasus area. It's from 1800BCE roughly and it's very well preserved since the arid climate and saline sands kept her very very well.
This mummy was discovered in the early 21st century wearing a necklace made of ...fermented dairy. The exact type of dairy is still up for debate but it could be kefir or similar...Lets find the long history of fermented dairy in Central Asia here:
