Then we ponder the concept of "the singer songwriter" and go off the rails a little as we grapple w/ the role and efficacy of protest songs in our current political hellscape. from someone who has covered movements for a ~decade, studied them longer: it's not that what's happening right now is "new" (we can find precedent for present tactics in treatment of Black organizers in the 2010s onward, organizing on Palestine and ATL's Cop City, others). it's still really bad!
