I'm hoping he gets shipped to the Iran front lines.
@fifthdentist
Frederick, MD. Retiree. Fiercely anti-maga. Dictators suck. Regular white guy. Opinions my own. Orioles/Ravens fan. Elvis rules. Bluesky Samizdat since 12/2024. Daily music for sanity. The Dem Party is not left vs center. It's fighters vs appeasers.
I'm hoping he gets shipped to the Iran front lines.
I hope there have been no fatalities in the US armed forces since those six, but it's odd how we haven't had any since Hesgeth had his tantrum about reporting them.
I hate trump. Loathe him.
That doesn't mean I want China to bomb my country to rubble.
Le Monde is a little off. The Constitution delegates war powers to Congress. The problem is that Congress has dissolved itself.
The Kinks' Preservation albums of the early seventies eerily anticipate the rise of a trump-figure.
"Israel is bombing Tehran because Iran made them do it" and "Republicans are shredding the constitution because Democrats were too insistent on pronouns" are the same argument, serving the same elements.
Does Starmer really believe that succumbing to trump pressure after initially semi-standing up to him makes him look strong and statesmanlike?
Well, I guess he could salvage something by calling trump's bluff and bringing the carriers home. But he won't.
Someone, somewhere might do that, but our captured media would bury it on page C-17.
If you are going to do that, though, you make your case for war first. Bush did that for Iraq, at least to the point where the public was softened up enough. Trump plunged straight into it.
Heh. You got it. Though I'm not a dentist, just sort of play one on bluesky ๐
Same way the FBI investigated the murders of Good and Pretti.
This is a natural consequence of never saying no to a madman.
The #1 function of a government is to protect its people. Something liberals and conservatives are usually in agreement about.
But cults gotta cult.
So, Donald, where would you like to be removed to?
"And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love"
She voted for her son to get killed.
She's going to have to live with that the rest of her life.
ICE just lies, every single time, don't they?
Send 'em all to Iran. Win-win.
Option 4 is to keep things going at this level indefinitely, air strikes, bombing, chest-thumping declarations of "success".
The media will play along.
I wouldn't be surprised if the counterterrorism units of our intelligence community have been ordered to stand down.
I still use paper maps. They're works of art. And I can navigate my way anywhere if the internets are unavailable.
If I were a relative of one of the fallen soldiers, I sure as hell wouldn't want him there.
You're giving the American voter too much credit. Most voters don't understand cause and effect and object permanence.
That is true, but high gas prices are political poison. They're in your face, all the time, and they affect just about everybody at some level. Enough voters are shallow enough to be swayed by them.
I remember all the color-coded bulletins issued to keep Americans in a state of fear post-9/11.
So I wonder what the thinking is here, because it's the complete opposite of what Bush did.
If there's any incentive for trump to back away from this war, this is it.
But he'll waste two weeks and countless lives trying to figure out how to spin it as a victory.
As a retiree who doesn't need to commute anymore, the gas price hikes don't affect me as much as they do most people, but living in the walkable part of the city is an extra bonus in that regard.
He harassed Minnesota to try to provoke a violent resistance moment. Minnesotans had the self-discipline not to give him that.
So he's trying Iran now.
What would you think of a law that forces congresspeople's children to the front lines if they vote for a war?
Also known as Chatterton's Law.
The US might be hiding mass American casualties to disguise the war's impact, but that's not going to work forever. Families are used to hearing from servicemen.
