Love that! Thanks Kathy!
Where did that last month go? That means itβs been that long since I worked on my novel. Oops. Tips for getting back into it?
Eek! I did it! I submitted a short story to a competition π
Onwards to the next one!
hahahahaah love it!
The characters in my novel:
1. A paramedic who tries to save everyone.
2. A spouse at the end of their tether.
3. A crew mate with older sibling vibes.
4. A best friend who knows death is inevitable.
5. And Death, the force that brings this group of people all together.
Any guesses on whoβs who?
Call me complex, but I love reading this kind of feedback on my novel.
A story that evokes such a strong sense of feeling is always the goal, right?
Iβm all good right now, thanks!

I went down the beta reader feedback rabbit hole and survived! Actually, itβs been an incredibly enlightening process. Now I just have to figure out how to edit-slash-rewrite this novel with those comments in mind!
Been a bit slow on the writing front of late. So, I'm moving some old pieces from Medium over to Substack. Here's one of those...

I finally wrote a thing! Started on a bit of a whim a few weeks ago, finished in a jet lagged haze just now... here's the story of how we ended up moving to Canada.

I havenβt felt much like writing in the last few months. Health stuff. Work stuff. Home stuff. Itβs all taken centre stage. Buuuuut the tingle is back. Now I just need to start. How do you get going again after a no writing period?
Thank you to you and Michal for the opportunity to chat about our experiences of moving from the UK to Canada!
Popped another old piece over onto Substack today. This one was a kind of fun piece about what it's really like to be a paramedic... sarahwayte.substack.com/p/5-universa...
Slowly moving old pieces from Medium across to Substack. This is the first of them:

And just like that... it's gone.
The novel is finally out with the beta readers. Time to pause thinking about that story for now and start dabbling with the next one!

π€£ (just gonna stick to an emoji response because I just read back that last post and found all the typosβ¦ itβs still early)
I have to say I did enjoy that book π€£ But Iβm with you on reading a book everyone is raving about and wondering why. There a long list of popular favourites Iβve been left shaping my head in wonder at. Each to their own!
Seems legit.
Hey! Fellow copywriter! ππ» Based in BC βΊοΈ
Excited to be joining this open house this evening! @twssfu.bsky.social
I used to painfully push through reading every book Iβd started, even when I wasnβt enjoying it. And then I realised I didnβt have to do that. I could just stop and move on to the next one.
Lifeβs too damn short to be stuck reading a book you hate. Iβm so much happier for it!
