So yeah, I can confirm what you describe. Maybe wrong to call it a "bug", but that's an undesirable behavior, IMO. Closing scenes, closing project, or perhaps even a debounced, timed signal after any relevant change, in case of a crush, must trigger a save of the editor state.

I press Ctrl-S like a maniac with OCD :) So I never noticed when in particular the save happens. And all scenes are saved automatically when you run the project.
I do think that the editor state of a scene should always be saved, implicitly. It's not a part of "unsaved" changes after all.

I mean, clearing cache is a reasonable case for them to come back :) But I guess having an ability to set project/editor defaults would be nice.
Not sure what you mean in the first case. Viewing, changing what's visible, and not saving? IMO that should still cache the state, if not that's a bug.

How come they come back? In 2D they stay hidden for me, and that's per scene too. New scenes seem to copy the settings for the currently open scene.

Personally, I really dislike that with while I have to declare my tiny little `i` outside of the loop declaration. I know that, at least in some languages, it leaks into the outer scope anyway... But at least I code in the intention not to use it outside of the loop with the C-like for loop.

Sure, but I wouldn't expect a screenshot. That's why I keep mentioning Open Graph. We already have a nice system for embedding content previews from URLs, with descriptions and images. Nothing more than that!

Yes, I thought about it later on. There are security implications, especially if this is implemented as a user addon. But as a browser feature, I'd expect the request to be fully anonymous and passive. No cookies, no referral, no JavaScript. Just load and parse HTML to get Open Graph data.

But instead, in the case of Sony, they seem to underdeliver in accessibility on PC, and are retreating to their own market, expecting poorer people who weren't able to play Sony games on their PCs to buy Sony's pricey device instead.
Personally, I'll just miss their games entirely as a result.

Like, you are kind of supporting my argument. You just can afford a more luxurious device, and I argue that it becomes less and less appealing in current economy. But as you say PCs are getting more expensive too.
IMO this should lead to development of more optimized games, to make them accessible.

Mayhaps. But probably unlikely. Games running 30fps on consoles, with resolution scaling already in place (and now with DLSS+framegen) is not unheard of, far from it.
And Xbox, if it survives, pivots into premium these days.

But she wouldn't be in this position if modern games scaled better, would she? It's great that she was comfortable spending a few hundred euros on a console, but my point is that that's a lot of money to just be able to play games. And it's not like they are cheaper now, few years into a generation.

And that's the bizarre part. Many games no longer scale well, the baseline is too high. So older hardware becomes useless quickly, while new hardware is inaccessibly expensive. And consoles become so as well, especially given their limited use.
So yeah, that's a "damn shame" from me.

On PC you need to meet your customers where they are. Unfortunately, many developers seem to forget that these days. As an example, the amount of Unrealslop is frustrating to say the least.
I already struggle to run most "modern" games decently on my laptop's 3070Ti. Regardless of settings.

So perhaps if Sony experienced bad sales with more recent titles, the issue was that Sony didn't understand PC market. It didn't understand that PC games need to run on a wide variety of hardware to have a long reach.
You cannot treat PCs like consoles.

A laptop that I already own and use for a large number of purposes, and which can play games on top. A laptop which I am unlikely to upgrade in the near future, for the same economic reasons.
And I'm not alone. PC market is a valley of old hardware to begin with, and those people still play games.

It's hard for me to justify buying one right now, and they do not get cheaper anymore. The next generation will probably be even more expensive, as the inertia of RAM and SSD shortages fully catches up with console manufacturing.
I can justify buying a 40-50 EUR game for my laptop though.

If Sony pulls out of the PC market, it would be a shame, but it's not going to make me buy PS5 or PS6.
We had some years where videogame consoles were accessible, but in today's economy they are firmly in a luxury category. Expensive computing devices that can do one thing and one thing only.
