I'm next door in Lambeth but am appalled at Croydon's plan to get rid of school patrols from 6 primary schools so have signed this petition. I found it thanks to @insidecroydon.bsky.social. @croydoncyclists.bsky.social @croydoneastlabour.bsky.social @croydongreens.bsky.social chng.it/pgYScwWhdG
βCall me a cynic, but I think the mayor just wants to push everything through as quickly as possible now, so the bridge is open in any form before the next mayoral elections in 2026.β

I'm hiring a Junior Caseworker.
The silence from our Tory Mayor is deafening. Our community needs answers on the future of our Youth Engagement Team. Thank you @ndironsmp.bsky.social for keeping up the pressure.

Residents in Croydon have waited months to learn what the Mayor is actually proposing to do in his review of the youth engagement team. Scrutiny is on Tuesday & the paperwork still hasn't been shared with the councillors on that committee.
What's he trying to hide?

Our Tory Mayor treating residents and our MP @ndironsmp.bsky.social with contempt. The Tories said a mayoral system would be more democratic, so why is Mayor Perry dodging accountability for his unpopular decisions? π

Very proud of our Labour government today, taking decisive action to secure British jobs. Our neighbour @sarahjonesmp.bsky.social has been doing a fab job this morning explaining on TV and radio why this decision is necessary.
The lack of capacity at East Croydon Station is causing major disruption on the Brighton Main Line. Thatβs why @delivering4crawley.bsky.social and I are calling for a review of the CARS scheme to boost capacity, cut delays & support growth in Croydon and Crawley.

Honored to join veterans and the Croydon community at Westminster Abbey to celebrate Mike Lyons, who fought for PTSD-affected WWI soldiers to be recognised. We're fundraising for SSAFA and the RBL New Addington branch. Donate: www.peoplesfundraising.com/fundraising/... #CroydonCares4Veterans
A major win for working families: Β£2bn to build 18,000 new social and affordable homes is a strong step toward tackling the housing crisis. We need secure, genuinely affordable homes, this is real progress.

Happy International Womenβs Day!
We marked the occasion last weekend with a womenβs self defence class led by the incredible SiFu Della OβSullivan and heard from @ndironsmp.bsky.social on how the Labour government is making a real difference to womenβs lives πͺ
π¨ BREAKING: This week, the Government introduced to Parliament three vital steps to support our shopworkers in the Crime and Policing Bill, delivering on commitments made to make our high streets safer.
The TLDR of Croydon Councilβs budget tonight:
π‘ Council tax up - by the maximum amount allowed again. Pay more, get less
βοΈ4 libraries closed, the youth service & carers support are next on the chopping block with Β£16m of FURTHER cuts to come
π§Ύ Residents footing the bill for Mayorβs incompetence
The loss of this community asset is devastating. I wrote to Croydon Council to urge them to support the boxing club to stay open. It shouldnβt have come to this
New Addington Amateur Boxing Club is a pillar of the local community but if Croydon Council goes ahead with its plans to sell the building without a suitable alternative for the club, it could be lost forever.

Mayor Jason Perry has requested Β£136 million from central government as he cannot set a balanced council budget. Council tax is expected to go up again - it has already increased by 25% under this Conservative administration. Meanwhile four libraries have closed and youth engagement services are facing cuts.
Under Mayor Jason Perry, Croydon residents have seen their council tax go up π, borrowing increase π but services go down π

Details of Labourβs new policy for renters: 1. Ending no fault evictions 2. Banning demands for several months rent upfront 3. Students wonβt be pressurised to sign tenancy agreements at the start of the academic year 4. Families of recently deceased wonβt be forced to pay their rent and utility bills 5. Right to request living with a pet 6. Extend Awaabβs Law to help protect renters against mouldy and damp homes.
Another day, another exciting policy announcement from the Labour government delivering real change for renters.
Welcome! π
Glad to have been able to take part in todayβs debate on The Childrenβs Wellbeing and Schools Bill.
Despite efforts by Conservative MPs to block it, this bill will bring in landmark protections for children, free breakfast clubs and higher standards in schools.
