Mayor Jason Perry has requested £136 million from central government as he cannot set a balanced council budget. Council tax is expected to go up again - it has already increased by 25% under this Conservative administration. Meanwhile four libraries have closed and youth engagement services are facing cuts.

Details of Labour’s new policy for renters: 1. Ending no fault evictions 2. Banning demands for several months rent upfront 3. Students won’t be pressurised to sign tenancy agreements at the start of the academic year 4. Families of recently deceased won’t be forced to pay their rent and utility bills 5. Right to request living with a pet 6. Extend Awaab’s Law to help protect renters against mouldy and damp homes.
