This week’s National message: Funding for SNAP & WIC 42 million Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients and 7 million Women, Infants ad Children Program recipients are about to lose life-saving assistance because of the government shutdown. The president is refusing to use $5 billion in contingency funds to continue funding these programs that feed pregnant women, children and provide formula to infants.
Action: Call your Representatives and Senators to say that allowing these SNAP and WIC benefits will unnecessarily harm our most vulnerable populations. Every American deserves to have access to affordable, healthy food; SNAP and WIC make it possible for many families to stay afloat. Maryland Note: Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen, and many of our Democratic representatives have all vocally pushed back against the White House illegal withholding of funds and using hungry children and families as political pawns. Make sure to thank them! Reminder: if you live outside MD-4, -5, please do your own research on how your elected officials are meeting expectations on these messaging storms. Give credit and criticism where due.
