"Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" is a popular Internet meme about Luigi that started with a video uploaded by YouTube user KlydeStorm in 2009, in which Luigi wins against CPU opponents in Mario Party 2 without performing any inputs. It became so popular that Nintendo's own social media accounts and official videos referenced it. [A post from SuperMario_UK on Twitter] He does nothing. How does he always win? [A subtitle on Nintendo Monthly Rewind-April 2021 on YouTube] But will Luigi win by doing nothing? However, the first instance of Luigi winning while doing absolutely nothing actually comes from Nintendo themselves. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi wins a drama contest while playing grass, a role requiring him to lie down and be silent for the whole play. While it might at first appear that the other actors's performances were responsible for the victory, it turns out that everyone specifically liked Luigi doing absolutely nothing.
