As part of an AI committee at my university, I spent this weekend trying out Claude (Opus 4.6) for writing, and I have to say, far beyond its hallucinations and the usual complaints, it is a baffling experience cognitively. I want to be more precise in my evaluation here than I usually am about AI.
Sometimes when there's a bad translation there's this weird feeling of being able to understand every word apart from each other, but together they don't make sense. this experience with claude seems little bit similar.

i think about conversations as basically a way to try to match, understand and explain my mental image to another person and vice versa. It's impossible with AI so language *erodes*? Like, crucial component is missing. Losing ground
