Am on a 2-week stint in hospital with my daughter. Anyone who thinks we don’t need immigrants should spend some time with us. A good 50% of the excellent nurses caring for her are from abroad.

I have never been. There are many places I haven’t been that I would like to visit. Dubai would be just above Las Vegas at the bottom of that list.

Looking forward to it! The mustard gas = chemotherapy did feel a bit sketchy.

Chemo really screwed my daughter up. It probably saved her life but she had a severe allergic reaction that was like a stroke and left her unable to use most of her limbs and no balance. Having to wear gloves to change her nappy as her wee was so toxic hammered home what we were dealing with.

My understanding was that they noticed it killed fast-growing cells and realised that would help slow fast-growing cancer cells but wasn’t sure how true that was. Sounds like one of those anecdotes that turns out to be false.

If you are looking into cancer and something that would be in your wheelhouse - how much truth is there in the origins of chemotherapy coming from the observed effects of poison gases in WWI?
