That said, if you’re primarily going to use a store-branded reader and not apps across multiple devices, Kindles are fine, but I recommend Kobo just from a user rights perspective alone.

Look, if you’re going to buy an #AmazonKindle, that’s all well and good. From a performance standpoint alone, go with the #KindleOasis, either when they come on sale as Amazon gets rid of old stock or buying a used one. It is still *much* snappier still than the latest models.

For the record, the above critiques of Kobo apply to both the devices and the apps. This morning alone, I’ve run into multiple issues requiring me to clear cache, uninstall, reinstall across multiple devices. The user experience for that is not good.

Now, if you are looking at other factors, like user rights (the ability to download your ebooks for backup) and device repairability, then yes, Kobo is better than Kindle. It's also more comfortable to hold.

But this is very much a "pick your battles" situation. #ereader #ebooks #Booksky

Unpopular opinion: Using Kindle > Using Kobo

With Kobo:
- Anotations don’t reliably propagate across devices
- Highlights randomly stop showing up
- Page sync doesn’t work well
- Screen is not as sharp
- Dark mode is bad

Never an issue w/Kindle. Amazon hate is justified, but it’s a delight to use.

#PSA: when plugging IEMs to a new device, ALWAYS start to play audio before you wear them. This rule just saved my hearing.

I plugged an IEM to a DAC, then plugged it to my computer. Unbeknownst to me, the computer decided to go up to 100%. If it had been in, I would have lost hearing. #audiophile
