I think we’ve seen the limits of inspirational humanitarian quotes. It’s good to feel hope—crucial even—but it would also be good to see some honest reflection on the liberal framework of the world that demonized Iran for decades and gave way to this.
The US is the empire. It controls NATO, it defies international law, it enables these crises, and it is not like Iran or any other country when viewed in its full, sober context. We cannot stop these atrocities until we can all collectively admit that the US government is uniquely, routinely evil.
