So, while the US motivations I’m sure are varied (and ever changing), at some level this is a battle of religious fanatics.

A massive social housing investment in Queens could create modern green homes for the working class, spark green careers across construction sectors, and build resilient green energy networks to support the community. A triple win for housing, labor, & innovation.

Affordable living is possible.
New from Picketty's lab: The world can raise incomes toward global equity & stabilize the climate under "under very strict conditions"
—reduction of work hours
—consumption shift toward immaterial sectors
—major change in food habits
—a fast energy transition requiring massive low-carbon investment
Canada shouldn’t have a "blind spot" for arms exports.
I’m calling on all MPs to support my Bill #C233 to close the loophole on military exports. We need consistency & transparency to protect human rights

One of the best parts of this campaign is travelling the country and learning how working-class histories still shape communities today.
From its mining roots to its renewal as a cultural, recreational, and ecological hub, Cumberland shows resource towns can build economies that work for all.
This is extremely disappointing. Car-free Day street festivals are a key part of our civic life here in Vancouver, a city that frankly needs more fun, festivals and civic life. I’ll await the honest details of what led to this. CC @vpsn.bsky.social @miss604.com

I found a precious memory from Main Street Car-Free Day several years ago
we need these special days for our city
we need this
hey @seanorr.bsky.social
Why do I fixate on the need for new Crown corps. Because in their absence, the best we can do is indirectly incentivize others to do and build what is needed to get a job done...
Even further and faster than I expected. news.sky.com/story/greens...
Four baseball cards against a sky background. The cards say that Marilyn Churley (former NDP MPP, Toronto-Danforth), Jim Morton (former MLA, Nova Scotia NDP), Gene Long (former NDP MHA, Newfoundland and Labrador), and Peter Prebble (former Saskatchewan NDP MLA and Cabinet Minister) endorse Avi Lewis for NDP leader.
These former provincial legislators are backing our campaign because they know bold ideas & big organizing are how we win.
They share our vision to tackle the cost of living, climate emergency, & inequality. I'm grateful for their confidence as we inspire Canadians in every region & community!
Highly recommend listening to the whole conversation. Platner is an extraordinary political communicator. I have rarely heard better.

"The system's power comes not from its truth, but from everyone's willingness to perform as if it were true, and its fragility comes from the same source. When even one person stops performing, when the greengrocer removes his sign, the illusion begins to crack"

Reacting to Labour's devastating loss to the Green Party in Gorton and Denton, Keir Starmer claims that only Labour can unite communities. I agree. He convinced Muslims to vote for a white working class woman representing a party led by a gay Jewish man.
At every turn in this sordid tale, Mayor Sim chose the path of no integrity.
I guess we do need an integrity commissioner after all. But also, best to be rid of this fellow. He brings dishonor to the position.

There's a dismissive contemptuousness in Sim's answers to the media that would fit right in with the administration down south.
We have to firmly reject this in Vancouver.

8/ Freedom will not come from military intervention by outside powers, it can only come from the Iranian people. War is not the way.
7/ My thoughts are with the people in Iran and around the world who are watching this unfold with heartbreak and uncertainty.
The current attacks on Iran must stop now, before the entire region is plunged into conflict, death, and destruction.
So someone confirm for me if I’m wrong about this.
Our premier and his party were against a carbon tax. They campaigned against it.
Then they ran into a deficit and complain the don’t have enough gas revenues.
So they tax hybrid and electric cars?
This incompetence is epic. #nspoli
That’s why Canada needs a fully independent foreign policy.
I bet this will be great! @emorwee is, age aside, a true veteran of these wars!
"Living in an inequitable country harms those with the most and least, because social inequities lead to higher levels of stress, mental illness, substance use, crime, incarceration, social distrust, violence and lack of innovation."

“Our opposition calls us paid protesters,” she said. “They cannot comprehend or understand that this is coming from the deepest corners of people’s souls. They cannot get their heads around it.”
That’s unacceptable behaviour in a representative.
“Many of us like to ask ourselves, ‘What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?’
"The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now.”

Honoured to join some of Canada’s top public healthcare advocates in endorsing my friend Avi Lewis for leader.
His leadership in the House of Commons is exactly the prescription this country needs for a more sustainable healthcare system, economy, environment and future.
Investing in the public sector can grow the economy to benefit all and is critical to private sector growth senior economist Iglika Ivanova told the @LeftEasttoWest podcast.
And increasing revenue—not focusing on the deficit—makes life more affordable.
Yup, it’s about you, me, all of us.
