Orphan of Kos boss fight with the words PREY SLAUGHTERED across the screen in green and white text and an empty health bar. I am in the corner looking tired and relieved to be done.
A decade ago I gave up on the Bloodborne The Old Hunters DLC cause it was too hard for me and today I finally completed it all without leveling a single time.
This is probably the hardest Souls low level challenge I've done so far.
Just two final bosses left to complete and I'll be fully done.
The bottom of the final page of the Turok 2 walkthrough section where it states βPlease Note: Because the book was created before the Turok 2 games were released , we were unable to complete certain sections and objectives for some levels. For additional up-to-the-minute walkthrough information, visit our companion web site, atβ and then links to a now non-existent website.
Just found my official Turok 2 strategy guide where they essentially gave up at the end before finishing.
Iβd imagine keeping up with Square Enix merch pricing would quickly put a lot of people in debt
It kicks my ass every time
Well after having it running on my second monitor pretty much all weekend I just finished Horripilant.
Unbelivably cool and fresh incremental game meets point and click horror.
A little grindy, but so many fresh ideas to the genre. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think thatβs why Grimace is my favorite even though I havenβt read the McDonaldβs manga.
I did write a whole blog post about this back in 2022 and I refuse to reread it, but way more gifs over there.

Thinkin about the time I tried to make a fake OS for one of my first game projects - I was far over my head but there is something about it that gives early Flash vibes.
It has to be one of the worst coded things I've ever done.
But it's still nice to look back and figure out the growth since.
IncreKnight is a closed incremental auto-attacker where you must clear rooms of enemies quickly before the room caves in. Buy upgrades on a skills tree to increase your attack power, gain new abilities, and increase the time you have to make it through.

I Know A Guy is a co-op pizza restaurant simulator where you have to balance paying off a debt to the mob while doing shady black market deals. Definitely a goofy game.

Everything is Crab is a cute game where you evolve your creature in a variety of ways while fighting other predators and eating prey. Really liked the art style and game feel on this one. Lots of build experimentation.

Lootbound is a combination of Diablo style chest organization and roguelike elements with turn-based combat. A large amount of synergy possibilities and risk taking decisions. This one has a fresh take and some good potential.

Last year I played Parasite Eve for the first time and this year I got to check out this demo of Parasite Mutant - a game that's heavily inspired by it. Good puzzle solving, fun combat system, and high fidelity visuals.

I don't really know how to explain Brebeman but it's a game where you make break beats while jumping from track to track and fighting bizarro world creatures by throwing discs at them? Just watch the trailer. The other game that you could go buy right now.

Horripilant is one of the only Next Fest demos I've tried that you can actually go buy right now! Unique incremental game with a good art style. A bit slower paced, but seems like it has a lot of potential in storytelling and visuals.

I've played every picross game under the sun so finding a fresh take like Sokogram makes me excited. Combines the puzzle solving of a nonogram with the box pushing mechanics of a sokoban. If you don't know what any of these words mean, it has great onboarding.

If you like puzzle solving, CD-ROM is a game where you're looking through files on a variety of CD-ROMs to find passwords to open more CD-ROMs. This one almost stumped me, but I found my way through. Very interesting. Will check this one out.

Itβs definitely one of those games that probably works mostly for me because I have an unhealthy N64 addiction but yeah itβs trying way too hard to be its inspiration that it makes me a little worried about what it will be. I am surprised it feels pretty good for movement.
One Move Away is like Unpacking but you put stuff in the boxes instead of taking them out. Real fun demo of fitting a variety of items in to different storage spaces. Challenging but not too hard.

If you haven't heard of Forbidden Solitaire gotta give this one a look. Cryptic 1995 aesthetic that plays with FMV and banned media. Who would have thought we'd ever see a combination of Solitaire and horror?

I gotta try this game it looks so cool
Looooots of roguelikes this time around. The trend is still alive and kicking. Still have so many downloaded games that I'll chip away at the rest of the week.
Treble-Basie's inspiration will be obvious the second you look at it. I'm cautiously curious about this tech demo straight out of Rare's N64 playbook. I do hope it can find it's own identity instead of just copying another, but the feel is a promising start.

The makers of the Poly Bridge series are back with a fresh game - Poly Bricks! A zen experience where you get a pile of 3D bricks and must recreate voxel based models. Got surprisingly complex quickly. Seems like this will be a good evening wind down game.

I am not usually a big fan of turn based dungeon crawling RPGs, but something about the art style of Underkeep hooked me. Fun gameplay with some nice world building. Most of the chat seemed pretty in to this one too! Definitely a game to keep an eye on.

I'm a sucker for old OS interfaces in video games and this take on Vampire Survivors is a shot of nostalgia direct in the veins. If you want to relive the days of the early internet, this may just scratch the itch.

Bobo Bay is a demo I played quite a while back, but I felt I should highlight it in this NextFest. This one is trying it's best to be the Chao Garden from Sonic Adventure 2 and doing a great job at it. Collect, train, race, breed, repeat.

Scritchy Scratchy is a real simple idle game about scratching lottery tickets, but something about it is so addictive. This one launches relatively soon but I ended up spending WAAAAY more time in this demo than I expected.

Create and raise sushi and then race them while avoiding being eaten by hungry patrons. Part Umamusume part Chao Garden this one was really fun. Another small slice of gameplay demo, but I am down to play more of it in the future.
