Like I've also had some MEAN kids. Not bad kids, I don't believe any kid is "bad" but mean ones who without just be cruel to every kid and teacher.

But none of them even gave a shit that I was queer. Didn't cross their minds that they could make fun of somebody for that

Like I'm a visibly trans openly bi woman and I teach

Kids ask "Are you a boy or a girl" and you answer honestly, nobody cares. You mention a husband or a wife, nobody cares

I still enjoy camping, hiking, sitting on a swing set, playing games. These things are still doable

What you need is a 6 ft 5 trans woman sitting next to you snapping pencils in half while giving them a death stare.

This is a service I'm willing to provide

My right wing Fascist Grandpa just posted a bunch of stuff about the Vietnam War and I'm trying to determine if this is stolen valor or if he's losing his mind, because he was never in Vietnam.

He re-enlisted during the sixties to fight but was put at a recruitment booth.

I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going β€œwow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic

Starfleet Academy is giving me everything I want from Star Trek.

And yes, that does mean a hot gay Klingon in a dress who dedicates his warrior's heart to medicine and birdwatching.

Sometimes a theme song is so good you struggle with the fact that the show is actually quite awful.

How come there's more controversy about my gender affirming titty patch than his gender affirming massacre of schoolchildren?

The Epstein files reveal more than just a few fucked up predators.

It shows how easily our system is corrupted by people who want to hurt and exploit others. Its not enough to bring the perpetrators to just.

We need set fire to the political and economic systems that that this has eroded.

Full offense but this is why the epstein files are so triggering to victims.

"Release the files" is just words to yall.

5 seconds later you'll turn around and say a woman who has chosen to play defense for her husband in them for years was "right about everything"

And not even out of love.

But right about everything? They would have got us into war and mishandled the Epstein files too

Liberals actually believe this.

Anyway both of them pushed for Stronger support of Israel and violence against Iran.

Also Hillary stood by her husband after he was caught sexually exploiting a woman half his age

I served, you're absolutely full of shit. The poster or book with forbidden tattoos is older than either of us. And I was a combat medic, saw plenty of infantry with ink and none of it racist symbols. Because they wanted to stay in the military.

When is "Man Getting Hit By Football" coming to the Criterion Collection?

06.03.2026 21:08 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

It was extremely transgressive in ways that people didn't even consider.

So was "The Sting", which is one of those great films people tend to forget. It leans hard into the expectations that came with the era.

06.03.2026 20:35 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Meanwhile Star Wars is seen as the death of the era where art was replaced with mindless escapism. But if Star Wars was mindless escapism, I don't think it would have caught on. It didn't help people forget their troubles, it showed them a huge win for a group of rebels against an oppressive regime.

06.03.2026 20:35 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I see some great movies in there, but I also see people patting themselves on the back and acting like they are "real" artists even though cynicism was the way of all movies back ther.

06.03.2026 20:35 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

We've seen these cycles in art before. My Dad, like all film nerds of a certain age, romanticizes the "New Hollywood" era. I don't have that romanticism.

06.03.2026 20:35 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I've always had a disdain for art that seemed to view cynical perspectives as being more true to life. That they are showing hard truths that most people don't want to accept.

Not because I necessarily disagree, but because I found that outlook limiting.

This is why I hate Lynne Ramsay's films.

06.03.2026 19:58 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Oh, I know. I was commenting mostly on how it hits after rewriting the director's statement. And overall balancing the feelings of crushing despair and disatisfaction with the world with some level of hope for the future.
