It's World Hearing Day. Yesterday, @sant.europarl.europa.eu held a hearing. The speakersβ core message was blunt: hearing loss is rising fast, and societies are not prepared.
Embarrassing. International law schminternational law. Undignified and unprincipled.
Very blinkered, very short-term and an approach that does not lead to stability. Apart from being unprincipled and very far from the European values the EU professes.
"Whatever happens, though, one thing is clear β that this use of force by the US and Israel is manifestly illegal. It is as plain a violation of the prohibition on the use of force in Article 2(4) of the UN Charter as one could possibly have."

How hard is it to build a bar at the Pentagon?
Prue Leith should have a maternal talking to this idjit.
I think the words you were looking for were "Congratulations to the winning candidate on their victory, we will obviously reflect on the result and what we can do to increase our support in the future"
A victory for @myvoicemychoice.bsky.social but many practicalities to sort out before the ESF+ can support access. Commissioner Varhelyi guestimates that EU pharma reforms will reduce costs by 20-25%. Pharma leading the way in EU exports to the US. And... Doesn't look like the ECCE will fly.
Tories used to be good at harvesting bloc votes.
Klubradio was refused it's licence in 2021, it is 2026 and it is less than 50 days to a Hungarian general election. Orban has a strangle old of the media. Good decision, but justice delayed is justice denied. Europe needs better mechanisms.
But she has much experience of Big Wellness.
Health ministers meet for an informal meeting in Lefkosia, will we see an agreement on a European Centre of Clinical Excellence for Pharmaceuticals. And, sotto voce, does an already complex environment with an alphabet soup of organisations need to add ECCE.
Health doesn't have a strong position in the treaties, but it has some very strong voices in the parliament: www.vitalsigns.news/health-polic...
I've just seen that there is an event with a session called "Towards a blue print of an EU Action Plan" and I wonder if that's just about the most EU title you could come up with - though maybe you could add a roadmap to the blue print.
The inquiry won't bring back the funding, but it might make some reflect on the shoddy treatment of the NGOs and patient organisations. I hope it also makes them reflect on how to make sure the voices of civil society are not drowned out in a world where big interests can make a lot of noise.
Vlad Voiculescu MEP @reneweurope.bsky.social says that we don't move fast enough on AI we will be dependent on others.
RPP's Lutz Dommel on the Global Outlook says that we have to avoid linear trap - which means we come late to everything. "Nothing is a given anymore" - including supply chains. Dommel says the real strategic question is not do we need another strategy, it is to decide what matters and to defend it."
Tomislav Sokol MEP says that he doesn't think that the Pharmaceutical Package would have been adopted at the end of last year, had it not been for US actions. RPP Health Policy Leaders

"Weβre losing momentum after COVID," AndrΓ‘s Kulja MEP. "Healthcare is also a security issue for us. A prime issue is loss of the healthcare workforce, βit is not sustainableβ. Says his primary motivation for entering politics was the state of Hungary's healthcare system. RPP Health Policy Leaders
@stinebosse.bsky.social @reneweurope.bsky.social says this year is about determining the βwillingness in the next MFF to really invest" βPharma needs to see the good reason to scale in Europe.β Investing public money to make sure we are the most attractive base to build" Health Policy Leaders
