Maybe after they go to therapy and get the personality and lifestyle clashes smoothened out, they could get together, but not right now I don’t think.

The writers did avoidants so well with Nick. Judy is really his only real friend in his entire life and he doesn't want to lose her. But at the same time he never knew how to express that he cares, except running away or hiding it behind jokes:

The plot was not predictable. All the new lore to the city was so nice.
Like that they didn’t dumb down any characters, the conflicts make sense, the motives make sense.
I like how they did Nick and Judy’s relationship. Imo that is the only way it could work.

Also theory for THAT scene in the trailer. What if its when Nick confronts Judy about her recklessness and how he fears hes gonna lose her, before the most dangerous part of the mission. Which makes sense, since shes really the only trust worthy person in his life right now
