What a shame, some great talent there, a rough year for big VR studios so far.

Thanks for playing! Feels so good to have it out there, NextFest is always just really good fun as a dev and it's a pretty good crop of demos this fest.
Just put out the first round of #NextFest demo updates for Full Steam Undead. It feels so good to have people playing and giving feedback, thanks players!
This happened to me yesturday, worked better than a strong coffee to wake me up.
My biggest gamedev discovery so far this #NextFest:
😡Low, Medium, High 📉
😀Normal, High, Ultra 📈
Yes I am changing it, but did consider "low, lower, lowest".
Agree, good thing about VR is your bound to get a couple of demo downloads! The amount of VR games in each NextFest seems pretty stable, I feel like ~30 is the usual for most, that 3000+ number blows my mind.
Check out Full Steam Undead:

I'm seeing 3425 total demos in this Steam NextFest 😬
Good luck to all the devs out there!
Only around ~35 VR demos, don't know if that's good or bad to be honest.
Full Steam Undead is in Steam Next Fest with a wild VR demo from the 23rd Feb to the 2nd March!

Time to blow off some steam with the "Full Steam Undead" demo, now available on Steam:

I agree; It's great value, especially for new players, but I'm guessing it somewhat salts the earth of the store. Depending on the inclusion terms, I wonder these studios would earn more from the store if Horizon+ didn't exist, but given the current premium VR climate I can't blame any for joining!
Very true, Steam should be packed with great new demos (including mine!). Though it seems like for the Meta store it's going to be a great time to launch; I wish I had an empty week on my last game release, that's for sure!
Maybe studios are holding out to be part of Steam NextFest next week?
I've tried the whole Git large file storage thing and it was a complexity and (for hosted) cost nightmare. Perfect for code, terrible for assets.
I love using Git, but only for code. All other assets are ignored by my Git setup so it's really more of a review/history tool than a straight backup.
Is this pull back from Worlds inferred from who has been let go or is this something that has been more officaly announced? A more curated approach to store would be appreciated though!
Great write up, thanks for that, it captured how I'm thinking/feeling about it.
"we are entering a winter of VR now", I was already feeling the VR market chill for the last year, this must be the ice age 😆
1,011 Steam wishlists!
🎉Hit 1,000 Steam wishlists for Full Steam Undead🎉
For flat screen probably not that great, but for a VR game, who knows 🤷
Wishlist trajectory is way better than for By Grit Alone, I wonder if it's because of the game or upcoming Steam Frame excitement...
Also, go wishlist it: fullsteamundead.com
A two-pane image of an anthropomorphic dog trying to assure himself that everything is fine, despite sitting in a room that is engulfed in flames. The flaming room is the VR premium gaming industry, while the dog is a VR game dev.
A horrible start to 2026 for the premium VR games industry, my thoughts go out to the many people laid off after putting out some incredible games.
I've been through some total industry collapses in previous work, but VR seems to be in a drawn out "limping on" zombie phase right now, just horrible.
Skip Half-life, go straight to L4D3 VR:
- Short 30 min mini-campaigns
- 1-4 player team drop in/out multiplayer
- Novel VR controls for the special infected
It's perfect!
Even better: support flat screen and VR, but VR special infected have a massive skill ceiling advantage.
Yes please, would love to be added!
"Full Steam Undead" is on track to release this year; It's open world of zombies, steam trains and queen Victoria.
On the "The No Hit Wonder” follow up talk YouTube upload, well up for seeing that, the original is a great talk. Fingers crossed Forbidden Solitaire is a big hit, sounds like it's going great so far and looking forward to playing it.
Happy new year one and all!
My 2026 new years resolution: 2160×2160 per eye;
come on Steam Frame, please be good!
Ever wonder why there are so many elevators in games?
No? Well I'm gonna tell you anyway...
I wrote a guest article for RoadToVR about killing loading screens, GOTTA KEEP THE FLOW!
I've heard of this, the mythical Steam chocolate tier; they send fancy chocolates out to devs that pass some kind of success threshold, so congrats on that!
You've been awesome for VR games these last few years, thank you for all the hard work. That Meta dev piece earlier this year was also massive, what a great run! Best of luck, enjoy some time off before you start and hopefully catch up at a games event next year!
While I just transfered a load of my sites to Cloudflare Pages for the free hosting 🤦I guess it's free for a reason!
Great article; I've just been working on this myself! If you kill a NPC in my new game, their ghost comes back to shout insults to you. I try and goad the player into murder by placing irresistible comedic shootable items nearby (T.N.T, hanging piano, etc).
Getting cover art commissioned is one of my absolute favourite parts of each game (which is why I usually get two pieces each time!). Had a fantastic time working with both Tom and Jimmy.

Just want to give a massive shout out to the fantastic artists who've brought the Full Steam Undead cover art to un-life and had to deal with my massive brief documents. I tried to think of something good to write, but to be honest the art speaks better for itself!
