Don't you get a sense that's how Donald Trump ran all his businesses?
Don't you get a sense that's how Donald Trump ran all his businesses?
To be fair,
this pretty much defines modern conservatism.
After grand larceny, gutter racism and the big beautiful rainbow of bigotry, there's nothing else.
And this headline only causes alarm to a population indoctrinated in the belief that Government Bad.
People who previously complained about the size of the public service, and who subsequently complain about the speed of government or delayed services after the current round of cuts, will earn my best shrug.
The supposed explosion of the federal public service looks less explosive if you put it in per capita numbers and draw a line graph back to the mid-80s.
Headline: A 30-year high!
Story: Still smaller than it was before the austerity of the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Agree. He can cosplay "common sense conservative" but I think people will always smell his bike riding pinko past.
As I wrote earlier this week, if Michael Ford does throw his hat into the mayoral ring, it will be absolutely onside to ask what his health concerns were that led him to resign from cabinet and not run for reelection last year.
Given his family history and all.
otoh, a Ford candidacy may present some strategic conundrums for Mayor Chow if she runs for reelection.
Criticizing Michael may be seen as criticizing the premier himself which, being the thin-skinned dink that Doug is, could have implications down the road if she gets back into office.
While I learned my lesson back in 2010 and would never underestimate the Ford factor again, Michael may run into a stiff wind of too much Ford already for many Toronto voters. Merely his premier uncle's puppet in the mayor's office.
Rob Ford felt genuine, authentic. wysiwyg.
Brad Bradord comes across as completely manufactured. If there was a conservative mayor in office right now, he would be running from the centre-left.
Michael Ford feels a lab experiment gone horribly wrong.
As a non-conservative one of the problems I see with a Bradford campaign (aside from his utter disagreeable persona) is that he doesn't seem a deep down, true blue conservative. It feels like he's trying to graft that label on. His bat-weilding, Toronto Sun, Buford Pusser photo as an example.
Pretty difficult to refute a single thing in this perfect assessment of where the f**k we are, from @iandunt.bsky.social:
Thread.
We need to move from a hope that this is just a passing phase to the acceptance that we exist on the border with an unstable and belligerent superpower.
But... But... Steve Paikin... somethingsomething...
After this season Idris Elba should hijack the show and make it good again
Cities often find the $$$ for public joy investments when major events like FIFA come to townβlive music, expanded patios, art installations, pedestrianized streets. A bit like families who only bring out the βgood chinaβ when guests are visiting.

Isn't that fortunate for Russia.

Steve Paikin is a 1970s/80s status quo upholder.
And listen, I grew up during Paikin's Davisian Golden Age in Ontario.
It weren't that interesting.
Steve Paikin: Champion of Irresolute Also-Rans.
Posterity will show Steve Paikin as the official chronicler of Ontario's Era of Dissipation.
YOU MADE ME READ STEVE PAIKIN, HIND!!!
I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!!
I mean, imagine if Ford wanted his legacy to be ending hallway medicine or properly funding our educational system?
Christ on a cracker.
(And the cheese has clearly slipped off Dougβs.)
