This Rough-legged Buzzard was a surprise find from the roadside near Moffat this afternoon! A smart looking bird and the first I've seen since the Wanlockhead bird many years ago. #BirdingScotland

@markgolley.bsky.social saw this today at Letham Pools in Fife and thought of you Mark. Not particularly bright orange legs and a hint of an orangey hue to the bill. Obvs not a Tundra Bean Goose but have you seen similar in Norfolk before? Excuse the crappy digiscoped shots.

After a series of dog incidents we’ve temporarily closed Hayley Wood (Cambs).

Despite clear signs, dogs off leads have disturbed birds, damaged rare wildflower habitat, staff were verbally abused when asking for leads.

Sorry to hear that Clive Byers died yesterday. There'll be many who knew Clive a lot better than I did but I considered him a friend. Always fun, always helpful to a fellow illustrator and always happy to provide a floor to crash on.
A great guy I wish I'd known better.

Some of the 11 Taigas at Hoppen Kiln Flash this a.m. Absolutely amazing things, and so close 😃. A bit of variation in bill structure and there's at least one of 'em I'd struggle with if I saw it by itself. One of them was repeatedly shaking it's head, which is a worry😕. #NEbirding

The problem is that at the moment there isn't a party I like. It really is a case of the least worst might get my vote. Politics has never been so divisive as it currently is on all sides.

Do you hate Scotland that much that you want to see it covered by such places?

We should eat more venison! There are too many deer, you can’t get more free range, yet it’s perceived and priced as a luxury meat, no doubt in part due to historical associations. This should change! The Epping Forest venison is delicious & I by eating it I am helping the woodland.

There's been 4 reports on Birdguides of Rough-legged Buzzard this year. Last year I'd say that there was only 2 credible records so this species really should be considered by the BBRC now.

Look forward to it Steve, hopefully I'll have a couple of trips down south this year.

As soon as I hear the term "Think Tank" on the news I instantly know that what's about to follow is lobbyist nonsense. Why any of them are given airtime is beyond me.

The Hooded Merganser was undoubtedly the least excited I've ever felt when finding a rare bird. However, it was my 500th bird, which was nice.

Dippers are one of my favourite birds so to see them regularly in Haugh Park, Cupar, is an absolute joy. Even better this afternoon was to hear one absolutely belting out its wonderful luscinia-like song.

Tricky one this Natalie as it could be argued that the construction of so many windfarms on peat moors is Ecocide. Without doubt the planting of any new commercial Sitka plantations on such areas is Ecocide. It will be interesting to see the implementation of the bill going forward.

I caught this bird the day the day it arrived (17th) and it stayed until 25th. It was then seen on 28th 289km away in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. It would seem that the regular wintering bird at both locations is actually the same bird….🤯 🪶📷 Ronan Owens @birdguides.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social

Hi Martin, I've never heard anyone call any of the pits down there by that name but if I had to guess I'd say it's the one which is on the far west of Swineham GPs and is difficult (impossible?) to view from the footpath to the north. Can't even find Bestwall House on a map.
