Storm over a hillside over a stone wall
Stormy clouds over hills
A memorial stone to John Turner discovered in a snow storm in 1755
The reverse of the memorial stone with an inscription saying a single woman's shoe print was discovered next to his body
Stormy morning in Saltersford and the stone marking the final resting place of John Turner who died in a snow storm in 1755 & was discovered with the print of a woman's single shoe next to his body

Misty walk up to Jenkyn Chapel at the edge of Rainow & Saltersford Parish(one of biggest parishes in the country). So remote. The people of Saltersford were so isolated & surrounded by neolithic standing stones. A 4 mile walk both ways to school in Rainow

That's amazing. I walk below Walker Barn from Rainow all the time. Beautiful 😍
My great grandfather Daniel Goodwin was at Turnshaw Platting Farm in 1861. He was born in Quarnford but met his wife when they both worked at Clough House. They married at Longnor. In 1871 he was publican at the Setter Dog at Walker Barn.
That's amazing- do you know which farm?
Not quite sure why this isn't getting more national news coverage. Was at Bottoms Reservoir & Valehouse Reservoir on Saturday & Lamaload Reservoir today. All serve #Manchester with drinking water. All look only 25%-50% full already

White Nancy is an old folly that was used as a summer house. Due to its position at the end of the Saddle of Kerridge- the first land to rise from the Cheshire plains-it was an important beacon site back to Waterloo and before

TY.....its such a beautiful place to live 😍
Hope you're well
Rather envious of your #peakdistrict pics!
Been thinking about lot about how the #peakdistrict seems perfect & natural but is actually a post-industrial landscape, from drystone walls: hillsides clear of trees; enclosed fields: old Mills & also Mills that don't exist any more. Beautiful living history
