I’ve entered my cyborg era, titanium rod holding my tibia together. Physical and occupational therapy went well and I’m back to the rather dull business of convalescing.

Post op stay wing has its share of indignities, like the 5 AM mosquito who comes to draw blood, but it’s Club Med compared to the emergency room. I actually got some sleep last night.
Out of surgery and watching soccer over the remains of dinner. Feels good to be able to eat again after 24 hours. Leg is elevated and iced, pain is minimal. I’m lucky to have good orthopedic care and excellent insurance.
Physical therapy starts tomorrow.

Things have escalated and apparently I broke the fibula too. Going into surgery at 3 or so. :(
So turns out this wasn’t a cramp and I have a broken tibia. No wonder the pain was so bad. In hospital now.
I would kill every last one of you for some benzodiazepine right now, but I do not.
Falling asleep is made more difficult when you shift your leg in what you thought was an insignificant way and massive screaming agony shoots up and down the entire length of your leg.
I don’t even know what I’ll do if morning comes and I’m still like this…I guess call an ambulance? I’m utterly helpless with my right ankle a cramped up mass!
