Wow this is so accurate π€― being a successful roman really was about knowing the best guys huh
Since I most naturally read an apostrophe as a glottal stop this is turning into some kinda fucked up chugging noise in my head
Your Monday morning astonishing artifact is the Malia "bee" pendant. (Spoiler alert: they may be wasps.) πΊπ§ͺ
A statue of a recumbent reveller, having a little rest in between revels, in a grand room with lots of other sculptures
Happy August Bank Holiday to all those who celebrate. You'd better get some good relaxing in because it's the last one til Christmas!! π±

"Recumbent Bacchante", c1834, by Lorenzo Bartolini, from Chatsworth House.
Thanks @jdk653.bsky.social for sharing π
Came here to make sure someone had identified Otto Frauderson!!!
Idk how that e got there except that I write enough variations of "geddit" for autocorrect to have picked it up
*ghβeddit is KILLING me
Crazy how every time there's discourse about gender neutral language for pregnancy/childbirth/etc, I see a bunch of people pretending like people who give birth and don't ID as women don't exist at all. Even people who probably think they're not transphobic lol
DON'T REMIND ME OF BONEGHAZI π±π±π±π
Genuinely what does that even MEAN π
Happy cows
So it's not that weird that my phone always seems to think I'm an hour away/a county over? Good to know cuz that was always mildly alarming.
Genuinely one of the most comforting things I've read in months, thank you :)
Ah geez I couldn't think of any that frightened me in a traditional horror sense but if we count "scared of getting in trouble"...... whew
It was definitely the appeal when I started smoking, I think you may be on to something here
Also this post made me check if Diane Duane had made her way over here yet and I am stoked she has because she was one of my favorite Tumblr follows.
I've only read Diane but I am excited to add the others to my list!!!
(Although looking at her bibliography I think I might have read a Star *Wars* novel by Vonda McIntyre π)
The AUDACITY of editing your pronouns π±
It might be okay if he's doing a really bad job
They can give you some absolutely insane diarrhea, that's a form of 'working'
Yeah I've never had this happen here but Meta has been serving me up some heinous shit so I think there is a non-platform-specific issue happening here
I just discovered recently they make a thing for that!! If you search 'blister pack opener' you should find a bunch!! (I also see them labeled as 'pill popper' but I hesitate to search that one π )
I definitely DON'T need a quiz to answer this one, personally π€£
(I got Medea though, which I understand but don't agree with π
)
I wonder how long it's gonna be before I see one of these photos circulating claiming to be a baby crow πππ
Hell yes I love disability/mental illness-friendly writing advice like this!!!
Careful with your stomach lining, I can't take nsaids at all cuz I took too many :(
That is actually way better than I have come to expect from event runners in similar positions. But that's not really saying much.
My photo shows a small dark brown leather Roman baby boot displayed on a red background. It is a mini version of an adult shoe. It has intricate, delicately tooled βfishnetβ uppers and would have been an expensive item. Excavated from the Commanding Officerβs residence at Vindolanda fort. Dated around AD 100, when the residence was lived in by Flavius Cerialis, prefect of the ninth cohort of Batavians, with his wife Sulpicia Lepidina, and children. On display at Chesterholm Museum, Vindolanda.
2,000 year-old leather baby boot from Vindolanda Roman fort on the northern frontier of βBritanniaβ. So small itβs unlikely the owner did much walking in it!
From the residence of the fort commander and his wife, it possibly belonged to one of their children. π· me
