What a CW contest looks like...RSPdx with SDR Console
Weekend project converting an old wine box into a stand for SDR gear. Variable RF attenuator on top, then DC buck converter, LNA, N2EME SDR switch and RSPDX receiver at the bottom all hooked up to SDR console and Yaesu FT897D.
Out celebrating working a new DXCC entity this afternoon...Malawi on 15m FT8 classic grey line propagation. Op in Malawi only 17 years old...fantastic.
Out celebrating that today my radio worked as it should and I didn't break anything in the shack...a very rare thing...
Last weekend couldn't get the Winkeyer to work with the FT920...after much messing about last weekend and today I gave up and reached for the radio manual...sorted immediately by connecting the Winkeyer to the rear key socket and flicking the switch next to it..DOH!
There was so little noise on 15m this afternoon I thought I had accidentally found a hidden menu item on the rig. Worked South Africa for first time on SSB with 100w into my G7FEK wire antenna.
Hi Keith, what antenna are you using on 17m?
Been on CW using N1MM with Winkeyer USB and RSPDX with SDR Console and N2EME switch today and stations were copying me as R4TJJ...after much googling resolved it by setting ,"First character extension" to 50ms. This makes the first character sent a bit longer and not cut off at the start.
Have enjoyed seeing your results. Thanks for all the hard work.

72 QSOs this weekend in the ARRL 10m contest, most on CW but the highlight for me was working Texas on SSB after the sun went down this afternoon. Some ops were very patient pulling my weak signal out of the noise.
Lots of transatlantic CW contacts today in the ARRL 10m contest. The Winkeyer has been a game changer for me getting QSOs...my reading ability is starting to improve as I get tuned into the rhythms of the fast code. Great fun.
Well, after being licensed for 42 years I have my first ever QSO with China confirmed on LOTW from the CQWW CW contest. 100w from a Yaesu FT897 to an EFHW. Chuffed with that.
Yes that's something I need to consider.
FT897D stays on Transmit after releasing PTT on mic, getting some sort of audio feedback loop from the PC it's connected to. Just started happening all of a sudden.
This radio hobby is so infuriating... something that worked fine yesterday is now not working and driving me nuts trying to work out why...this is a regular thing..one of my other hobbies is bird watching and my binoculars always work
Well a world wide CW contest can be a challenge to the ears and mind, but I encourage you to learn CW, it's a great way to make contacts.
Would like to see RSGB on here Steve
Managed 63 QSO's in the CQWW CW contest. Highlight was working China for the first time ever...I think...heavy QRM so not 100% sure ...will be looking closely at LOTW next week. My brain truly fried by all the noise of CW.
Giving out some points in #CQWW CW contest using Winkeyer USB and N1MM logger...my ears are ringing
I'm using an SDR play RSPdx receiver with SDR Console displaying the waterfall and using Yaesu FT897D for transmit. The receiver is protected by an SDRswitch.com switch which isolated the receiver when I'm transmitting.
First post on here...after 2 years operating in the garage I've made it into the house....it's much warmer.
