There will always be another “excuse” to continue our harmful reliance on fossil fuels.
But at what point do we say enough is enough and move towards a safer, fairer and healthier energy system?

The Irish govt seeks to amend Art 3 and Art 8 of the ECHR as they apply to migration cases.
This insidious shift in policy is very concerning.
The ECHR protects everyone's fundamental human rights. It's also central to the Good Friday Agreement.
We can't allow human rights law to be watered down.
In my @irishtimes.com op-ed today I argue that our climate law is the best framework we have for making energy secure and affordable, because it tackles the root cause of our vulnerability to energy shocks - our dependence on fossil fuels.

On March 11, groups across Ireland will be taking action on data centres
Will you join @foeireland.bsky.social's action and let your TDs know you’re opposed to the Government handing over even more resources to Big Tech?

The vast majority of the Irish public feel distress, sadness, anger, grief, fear, despair, guilt, frustration, and worry at nature loss and environmental decline.
Why is this never reflected in actual government policy???

An ancient Irish rainforest, overwhelmed by invasive sika deer and rhododendron. As these trees die of old age, only the rhodo remains.
Most of Ireland's only 1% or so of surviving native woodland is dying, almost all due to invasives like sika, goats, sheep, and rhodo.
We could do SO much better.
We wrote this report with the OTB in mind, but it equally helps explain the Govnt's refusal to condemn the illegal US-Israel bombing of Iran.
'Ireland’s economic dependency on the US ensures that the US holds a de facto veto over Irish foreign policy.'

Big Tech wins out over children's safety.
The neck of the government is unreal.
This was literally amended out of the government's 'excuse' because of Big Tech lobbying!
They're engaged in doublespeak in front of our eyes, trying to tell us they're 'dealing' with this.
They're not!
#SpéirGhorm
Despite the hot air from government about protecting children, they've voted down our Bill to turn off the toxic algorithms.
These algorithms push toxic content promoting eating disorders, self harm, misogyny and hate.
Big Tech profits should not come before children's health.
"Ireland’s staggering lack of national ambition on nature, #climate is in marked contrast to Costa Rica, which despite having a fraction of our wealth, has been able to meet fundamental needs of its citizens while respecting nature."

Where Ireland has failed, Costa Rica has succeeded ... and then some!
A worthwhile read from @thinkorswim.bsky.social

Tommy Robinson has built a career on weaponising sexual violence allegations against Muslim men.
So it is worth pausing to examine what he does when the accused rapist is white, famous, and a useful ally.

Israel struck a hotel in Hazmieh, where most of my family lives (everyone’s okay)
No idea about casualties yet.
They also killed at least 6 ppl in Aramoun and Saadiyat.
None of these 3 are ‘Hezbollah strongholds’ as media outlets like to call them
I spoke to Sean Moncrieff about the unfolding disaster in our seas and why the Department of Agriculture especially needs to act

We need the US out of Shannon airport. We need to end our complicity and our government's tacit support for these imperial warmongers. #USOutOfShannon
Israel will never miss an opportunity to annex another country’s land 😐

Monaghan County Council’s use of public land as the centre of a community‑led meadow restoration project is exactly the kind of initiative that should be rolled out across the country through Ireland’s Nature Restoration Plan.

So, the president of European Commission, supposedly speaking on behalf of EU, hasn’t a single word of criticism for illegal US/Israeli attack on Iran, instead blaming Iran for trying to defend itself.
The same VDL cowardice we saw in #Gaza.
Small wonder the US treats Europe like a bad joke.

Over 112,000 non-consenting sentient beings are used in tests, much of it for Botox 💉, two thirds of which is for the cosmetics industry.
To make a statement about the illegal bombing of Iran by the US and Israel without mentioning that fact is tantamount to condoning it.
Headlines moved on quickly from the schoolgirls in Minab. We don’t know their names; no media profiles about their lives and aspirations. No smiling photos attached to quotes from mourning families.
How unfair that some dead are memorialised while others are relegated to ‘estimated casualties.’
Thanks for sharing. This is great news and would bring Ireland in line with almost all other EU countries. We have taken our medium sized dog on public transport in UK, France and Netherlands. When we moved back to Ireland, we couldn't believe this was not possible and we'd need a car to travel..
Imagine playing sports with any other country engaged in mass ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and genocide?
It stopped with apartheid South Africa, which wasn't even as bad.
