Not all moisturisers are actually good at reducing moisture loss. You may still itch as your skin recovers if you’ve been having a lot of really hot showers.
Want to know more about your #skin and the effect of hot showers/baths? Check out our latest article for The Conversation.

A new study found adolescents with period pain had higher levels of psychological distress as young adults, even after accounting for earlier mental health issues.
Being on the cliff is a dangerous position: there is a high chance of falling – or being pushed off.
Take a deep dive into #eyelashes with me and Associate Professor Monika Zimanyi from #JCU
Not for a few years when retirements start :)
Tanvi, Jessie, Amanda, Hritik standing outside the Human Anatomy Laboratory at James Cook University.
Loving leading the first dissection workshop for the Graduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy at JCU! Doctors from SA, Vic, and QLD are learning heaps—many are dissecting for the 1st time. Huge thanks to our generous body donors for supporting their education! In the photo below are half the cohort.
Anyone checked on the Reese Brothers?

Many forms of Long Covid: Long Covid is a multisystemic disease with sequelae that affect almost all organ systems. Various putative mechanisms that underlie these sequelae are not mutually exclusive and may explain the myriad health effects seen in Long Covid. Therapeutics that target these pathways, such as antivirals, anti-inflammatory agents, microbiome restoration, and anticoagulant drugs, may ameliorate symptoms.
A #SciencePerspective by @zalaly.bsky.social and @erictopol.bsky.social identifies key issues that need to be prioritized in the study of #LongCovid.

Happy birthday and congratulations! 🍾
Really enjoyed #TEPARG2025 EDI session with Dr Michelle Welsh, Lily Evans, Dr Hope Gangata, Dr Siobhan Moyes, and Dr Scott Abbott Paterson!
Did not enjoy experiencing my first ever 4.7 magnitude earthquake 22km away during the conference - scared the whole family (pets included!).
I find this sad. From Von Economo’s encephalopathy (made famous in Oliver Sacks “Awakenings”) after 1918 flu to 2003 H5N1 to the 2009 H1N1 swine flu, viruses seem to be the trigger for neurodegeneration. While not the only cause; to ignore their contribution to lose a whole entree to prevention.
Hope you're feeling better soon! :) I'm back in the lab for 3 hours tomorrow after a couple weeks' break. Can't wait - comfy scrub day! Lucky I have Saturday to get over the leg aches :)
This has been online for a little while, but I’m so excited to see this scoping review finally published 🎉❤️📝
My first LAST author paper with a couple wonderful students and some of my favourite #GBL friends & collaborators!! @drsarahedwards.bsky.social @empiricgame.bsky.social @tchanmd.bsky.social
I loved helping out with AT3000/AT3001 this year. Great bunch of students and love working with Assoc. Prof. Monika Zimanyi.

Wow! Look at those colours!!
A photograph of a cell undergoing metaphase of mitosis. The chromosomes are aligned along the midline (metaphase plate) with mitotic spindles (like fine hairs) running to the two poles of the cell.
If you teach, or are learning, histology, please check out histologyguide.com I was reminded today just how good this free online resource is.
I have no affiliation with the website or authors, I'm just an admirer of the website. I spent a lot of time looking at the different phases of mitosis.

Next up for the Global Neuroanatomy Network is Dr Siobhan McMahon @siobhanmcmahon & Professor Dara Cannon @daracannon.bsky.social . They are tackling #neurophobia and demonstrating how to implement GNN resources. #GNN #GlobalNeuroNetwork

Having extra fingers or toes is just one example of the rich diversity of variation in our anatomy.
Your back teaching??
Did you know David Tennant has polydactyly? (my nephew had it too)
Do you know what it is and how it happens?
Want to know what other anatomical variation is 3 times less common than polydactyly? (my son has this condition)
