You start out giving it simple, concrete tasks, gradually expanding scope until you find where it starts to break down. Then add structure to help it manage the complexity

I think I disagree. I am definitely learning how to get cursor and codex to write better code, how big a task I can trust them with, etc. The different cursor models are also better and worse at different things, it turns out.
