Hello new followers! I'm an ex-gamdev who has made a film about someone who inspired me back in the day & who is still inspiring people with new work today.
His name is Jeff Minter. I hope he'll inspire you too.

An ad for the Stacy with a photo of the portable computer (it's a bit bulky to call a true laptop) with a blue screen and charcoal grey casing and white keys.
The Atari STacy! Released in 1989, this portable ST has a pretty swish form factor when compared to it's nearest rival, the Mac Portable - and built-in MIDI!
It was originally intended to run on batteries but they had such poor lifespan that Atari gave up and glued shut the compartment.

THE LORD OF MARAKITH: He has found shelter and is refreshed. It is night and Marakith is utterly invigorated. The Ice Fear is quite cold. Marakith is quite afraid. He has with him the sword Wolfslayer. He thinks again...
A landscape of 8-bit mountains and a fortress bathed in darkness. The text says: "THE LORD OF MARAKITH. He stands in a village in the Domain of Marakith, looking North to the Mountains of Ithril."
A tower can be seen looming behind an 8-bit mountain range. Settlements can be seen dotted about in the distance. The text says: "LUXOR THE MOONPRINCE. He stands in a ruin in the Domain of Marakith, looking North to the Mountains of Kumar."
Night has fallen and the Foul are abroad! Seven days have passed since the War of the Solstice began. The bloody sword of battle brings death in the Domain of Ithril and of Dreams and of Kor and of Blood and of Coroth and of Ithril and of Marakith.
Been playing The Lords of Midnight lately, and it sells its cheesy high fantasy world and premise with a confidence and grandiosity that feels impossible for a 1984 ZX Spectrum game. Absolutely magical experience that has lost none of its power in the 41 years since its release.
Not something you can say everyday!
This looks so appealing.

My Top 64 #C64 Clones - No. 5
Lode Runner
Lode Runner doesnβt look or sound amazing, but donβt be fooled. Beneath its modest exterior lies one of the most addictive games on the C64. Influenced by the arcade game Space Panic, this platform puzzler is enormous fun and still plays brilliantly today.

Monty on the Run on the C64 (1985)
Classic flick-screen platform action with an equally classic Ron Hubbard theme tune, sees you playing escaped convict Monty Mole as he looks to escape from his captors and flee to Europe.

One of my favourite, early platformers, which was more fun than Jet Set Willy.
