Anarchist.
I do think the best reason to leave is "it's not very useful and so we don't want to legitimise it by being there for little benefit", but I don't see that very often.
Annoyingly me neither as I still use it for a few things, but I think in the CIPR's case it's a stance they can take - they don't have to be there really. I also think it's a fine line when people talk about moral reasons but perhaps really mean ethical ones.
I would take issue with the claim of virtue signalling - I think it's a term that's bandied around too readily and is only applicable if the action isn't relevant to the organisation's general ethical stance. It's also in the eye of the beholder isn't it?
But surely organisations who prioritise ethics to the extent the CIPR do can make a decision not to benefit Musk with what amounts to their "business"?
Bear in mind I'm saying this as someone who hasn't pulled her org off X so I don't actually disagree with your general premise about its usefulness
He also touches on the idea of abundance - AI as an infinitely patient colleague who nevertheless forgets everything you tell them. This is something I've found to be really valuable - the idea that you don't have to generate one idea, or even 30, but 50 or 100.
Being super interested as I am in AI's benefits (and challenges!) for PR practitioners, I loved the line in @emollick.bsky.social's latest newsletter saying "To put it bluntly, any recent frontier model... is likely much better than any intern you would hire, but also weirder."
In 2016, Trump gave us 'fake news'. In 2025, he's inventing the 'censorship cartel'. If you don't like being fact checked for lies, stop spreading #Misinformation
A truly worrying time for academics and journalists who have progressed understanding on why we believe false narratives.
My @teenagecancertrust.bsky.social team are up for Comms Team of the Year - please vote!
Well you've gained a follower at least Andy, in the form of someone who used to work in heritage (and misses it!) and knows that "give it to the NT" isn't actually a magic solution.
It's been a long long time since I launched a brand on a new social platform, but this feels like a good place for us to be. Follow to find out more about how Teenage Cancer Trust works to improve things for teenagers and young people with cancer ๐
