After the second version for selecting an option was crap (and I was frustrated with my process), I changed my approach. It was way more fun and I like the results much more.

The visualization takes the id as well and fetches the tile data to display. With that structure it was easy to swap visualization from 2D to 3D. And as this game is a multiplayer game, it makes it quite easy to spread changes to the clients.
There is a class Hex (Logic), which calculates world to cell positions and neighbours. The tile data is accessed by ids in a hash map. For the cursor position I cast a ray against a plain, take the world position, convert it to a cell position.
I did this in another game as well and struggled a bit. This time I split up data, logic and visualization. Which made it much simpler.

Awesome mini 4X game where you can play against others. I love that each round is under 1h. So you can play it without having to spend days.
Oh, nice reference! Overall I would rather put it towards Ozymandias, but with direct action on the board. For me the early game still has some catan vibes despite the gameplay is completely different. But I can't fully point out why.
The clouds donβt like my cursor anymore.

Iβm conflicted: choices should matter, but misclicks shouldnβt.

Iβve added looting of building improvements. All you need is a boat, a few units, and some juicy, not-too-well-defended tiles from your neighbour.
As a hopelessly greedy strategy player, I donβt see how this could backfire...
