Israeli map showing all of southern Lebanon in red with yellow arrows pointing to north of the Litani river
The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.
They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.
The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.
This is *so close* to something I would actually wear, but I do like to dress like someone working in a Eastern Bloc eel-canning factory c. 1974
About every 57k miles driven by Musk’s robotaxis one gets into a wreck. That’s four times the rate of humans.
For the first time since @projectsaltbox.bsky.social launched their DHS warehouse acquisition tracker, the number of canceled sales is higher than any of the other warehouse-related figures. We've reached a tipping point, folks.

Israeli-US strike on girls’ elementary school in Minab killed 165 people and injured 96 others
Kids.

James Baldwin said, “We are a racist society, racist to the very marrow, and we are fighting a racist war... My own condition, as a black man in America, tells me what Americans really feel and really want, and tells me who they really are. And, therefore, every bombed village is my hometown.”
Oh, I’m gonna keep going. It’s Black History Year now since the cřäqůėřş wanted to play all day.
This new month (March) will focus on Black women.
April? Neurodivergent Black people (& more).
May? Blasians & those in the mental health field.
June? Queer Black people.
And so on & so forth.
no war no borders no cops no prisons no to all of this shit
BREAKING — 51 Iranian children are dead after a strike hits Minab girls elementary school in Iran.
sometimes I like to think about what we could (metaphorically) beat swords into, besides/in addition to ploughshares
sturdy colanders
lovely fountain pens
many musical instruments
tins, tiffins, toolboxes
proper sewing machines
so many bicycles
A broader takeaway I think is nobody should be allowed to be so rich that being told no, or being held accountable, represents such a moral injury to that person's psyche that they feel like their only recourse is to burn the world down.
if you think polymarket bets on war are bad, wait til you find out how many in Congress are invested in defense contractors
In case you’re just waking up, the U.S. has teamed up with Israel overnight to start an illegal war of regime change, apparently on a presidential whim with no involvement of Congress, and they are already committing horrific atrocities.
Thank you to @authorsabb.bsky.social heroes @beccacoffindaffer.bsky.social and Ed Underhill, we have some slides that can be shared by anyone about this, with particular reps to target. Let's kill this bill in committee.
The level of rage I have towards the New York Times that enabled this while blaming us for it is indescribable.
They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.
We just read this for my speculative short fiction group at the public library and people were into it!We had a great conversation about anarchisms, narrative structure, etc.
I’m reading “The Count of Monte Cristo” for the first time, partly because I was on an accidental “fiction featuring prisons” jag (“Chain Gang All Stars” and “The Practice, the Horizon and the Chain”) and I thought it would be a fun challenge. And it’s so good! All three of those books are so good!
Image showing Mayor Mamdani looking frustrated, with a text overlaid that reads “NYC Public Library Action Network” at the top, and in large bold letters text that reads “Mayor Mamdani did not honor his commitment to allocate 0.5% of the city expense budget to NYC public libraries in his preliminary budget” and then in smaller font below, there is text that reads “visit NYCPLAN.ORG for more information”
While a candidate, @mayor.nyc.gov pledged to commit 0.5% of the city’s budget to public libraries.
Unfortunately, Mayor Mamdani has broken this promise in his preliminary FY27 budget, released yesterday, where he allocated 0.39% to libraries.
This amount is well below the promised 0.5%
I thought these candies were for children?
Stevens also seemed generally impressed with the staff during the visit and their treatment of detainees. “Of note, there is female leadership here, and there are women who walked with us today and explained, on the intake process, how important it is to treat people with humanity,” Stevens said. “And that obviously really stuck out to me, because some of the things that we are witnessing before our eyes, in our neighborhoods, in our streets, is really a lack of humanity.” Both congresswomen did note, however, that at least one individual who they spoke to expressed a fear of punishment or retribution for sharing his concerns about the facility — though they attempted to speak with him privately, they were denied that opportunity. Stevens noted that she plans to remain in touch with that person’s family in Macomb County to ensure he is not punished for speaking with the congresswomen. “He was kept for several weeks in what everyone there refers to as ‘the hole,’ which is similar to a solitary confinement,” Scholten said of the same detainee. “He spoke of being kept in a freezing room where he couldn’t feel his toes and having his food just thrown into his cell. So these are things that we really need to take seriously.”
How is this even possible? Rep. Haley Stevens, who is running for #MISen, "seemed generally impressed with the staff" at an ICE detention facility, per the @michiganadvance.com.
At the same event, Rep. Hillary Scholten spoke of a man "being kept in a freezing room where he couldn’t feel his toes."
I can’t believe you lefty Luddites hate tech so much that you embrace mRNA vaccines, heat pumps, electric bikes, hybrid work, renewable power (and awesome advancements in storage), space telescopes, and hot/cold running water but reject the planet destroying plagiarism enrich the worst people bots!

Incredible victory! After years of organizing across Canada, Scotia Bank has divested from Elbit Systems!
Elbit is Israel's largest weapons company, arming the occupation and genocide of Palestine.

The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.
WHAT is going on with Sweetheart candies!? I got a box to decorate some cupcakes and a bunch of them are broken, a tenth are blank, half the printed ones are illegible, and the legible ones all have economic messages like “buy in bulk,” “split bill,” “cook for 2,” “joint account,” and “car pool”
I work at a PL and run a short speculative fiction reading group - your short fiction recommendations are a great resource! I’m rooting for you!!!
#tdih 1851 Shadrach Minkins, who had escaped from slavery in Norfolk, became first person arrested in Mass. under horrific Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.
A group of abolitionists freed Minkins from U.S. Marshals in Boston & helped him escape to Canada.
