If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

A six panel comic of a man and a woman where their word balloons are actually other panels (there are no words) indicating future actions and explaining why they did what they did.
a three panel comic about Søren Kierkegaard in which the text of the man reads backwards and the dog forwards "Life can only be understood backwards" and the dog "but it must be lived forwards"
It's that time in my Making comics intro course when I talk image-text relations, which gives me an excuse to share 2 favorite comics that do bewildering things that can only be done in comics! Ibn Al-Rabin's seminal Le Verbe Prophétique alongside the always brilliant @tomgauld.bsky.social. So good!

And ofc that Realization needs A Lot Of Fucking Lake to explore properly... *nods knowingly*
Oh nooooooo
So much damned lake.

I made it through Hyperion as a high schoolers but I had the moment you describe here while attempting to read Game of Thrones about half a decade layer.
"Okay, but do we get to find out what's beyond the Wall?"
"Kinda but not really."
... so that was a turn off.
Leftist folks being blisteringly disdainful to active military and vets truly will never get old because so many of them got to have the privilege to have never fucking thought about joining the military.
Evergreen for how I operate:
“Queer' not as being about who you're having sex with (that can be a dimension of it); but 'queer' as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and that has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.” 🔥🔥🔥

[update] Investigating: We are investigating reports of errors when trying to load AO3, including errors saying that AO3 is down.
Splendor!!! Do you have splendor? Very fun game that one.
Skimming pictures again: Seven Wonders? Lords of Waterdeep? Do you not have these or am i blind? (Everyone i know has these so just mildly surprised I don't see them)
Trying to think of low set-up and it feels like card-based games tend to embrace that better. Bohnanza is a fun one. Yesterday, played "The Gang", which is a poker-based heist game. We failed miserably, repeatedly, but we had enough fun to try again. (Some did not know poker hands.)
I will second the previously mentioned Wingspan, Scythe, and Mysterium options as well. (I said Mysterium elsewhere but keeping thoughts in line)
Did anyone else see yet that Twilight Imperium has a Steam version in the works?
One I love that hasn't already been mentioned is Viticulture, a lovely worker-placement. Someone mentioned hidden movement? Not sure if its in print, but Nuns on the Run is amazing for that. One i just played (again) yesterday is Treasure Island, amazing map.
I will also endorse Mysterium, very fun
.... yeah okay no this does explain a lot of why I liked Hyperion in high school and every thought of rereading it thereafter made me feel a bit ill.
Iron fingers, not ironic. Carrotautodamnyou.
(I... desperately need sleeppp)
I had an ironic infusion today and TWO ofnthe nurses in the area shared my uncommon first name. Exactly, not even the more common variants. It was a little weird!
No, no, clearly its

Olay:
Something bsky did now means that on my phone, dragging while I'm on a person's profile area doesn't scroll, and I have to drag within the post area to start to scroll.
But! When I first click on someone's page to see their posts, only about 0.9cm of a horizontal area will scroll. Annoyed.
Immediate save, I hate prednisone so much
The two astronauts meme with the one looking at earth saying "you mean it's all just histamine?" and the other holding out a box of Benadryl saying "always has been"
I offer you my most-used meme, which is my most-used meme for a very very good reason; take it with my conspiratorial red-string-murder-board blessing

Considering OP also wrote that thread its fair to say that many of us reading this thread do know of it, yes. Can't hurt to boost again though!
I am only a little enraged that it took me an hour to get the bus that supposedly runs every twenty minutes to get home after a rough therapy appointment. From the bus station downtown. In the cold. Only. Only a little. Fucking. Enraged.
Gotham. Busses. Surely they aren't worse than my local busses. Surely.
