Great thoughts! Thanks for sharing! This is the only one I'm more skeptical about. I think predatory journals might well adapt to try and have even more of the cake. I'd think it is us researchers who should change the metrics, in light of AI but also in general.

GOD YES. It should be a constructive process. It should be about offering suggestions to improve the paper, not pointing out minor flaws or telling the authors that you would have done it differently.
Peer review would be easier if we stopped treating it like combat with the authors. Results want to be free, and perfect is the enemy of good. Do the data support the conclusions? If so, thatβs enough. A paper isnβt a blank slate for projecting your own ideas.
