Is it just me or is the LBF website not great this year? I'm getting 404 errors, I can't find where to add things to my schedule manually (they had that function last year), the Plan Your Visit Page mentions a Visitor Guide that doesn't seem to exist, the floorplan is...simple.

I've been shifting away from Google because they shove AI down your throat too. Google Search to DuckDuckGo and Chrome to Brave. It's so nice to have more control over what AI features I want (none). And a disable autoplay feature for videos! Would've switched sooner if I'd known about that.

I knew about enshittification in general but I didn't realize making search results worse was an active strategy for Google... I guess I assumed it was an unintended side effect of trying to cater to everyone and therefore failing to cater to anyone. Or something. Wow.

I swear, Google has been getting worse for years, too. Far before the AI overviews. It's like it's been trying harder and harder to be "smart" and give you what it thinks you want rather than what you actually type in.

I agree. You can avoid a lot of AI if you just try a little. I switched to DuckDuckGo to avoid the AI overviews (and filter out AI images in searches, as much as possible), and I've been thinking of buying Kagi Search, which gives you more control over what AI results you see.

Ok...I don't disagree with your overall logic...but those pens on the right are amazing when they're from Japan. I love them, and my Japanese colleagues would bring them back from Japan as souvenirs.

Having said that, literally nothing beats a really smooth single-color black pen. Nothing.

Alright, Bluesky, ready for a review: We have a period setting, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, all in one book spanning centuries. What more could you want? What more could we even fit in?

Hi Bluesky! I'm a Japanese to English translator. I probably won't be that active here, but I do have a blog where I review untranslated Japanese sci-fi and fantasy books. If that interests you, hang around, because I've got a new review coming today.
