I stopped going to movie theaters years ago. But Pedro has made me go back twice in as many months now. And I really really love the 8 am matinees.
This is an unequivocal stance, which is rare to see in recent years, let alone in recent months. I am in full agreement. This is not normal.
To dispute the hype around Gen AI in education, @alexhanna.bsky.social recommends leaning in to the notion of skilled labour and focusing on process over product. Students writing essays is not to keep the world in supply of essays- it's about the processes around writing and critical thinking.
Do not stand by and watch people being kidnapped by masked men and women refusing to identify themselves and with no warrants. They come for all of us eventually when we do so.
Most people get FOMO. I am a loyal JOMO-ist. The Joy of Missing Out is unparalleled.
For an eye opening, albeit bleak experience, I highly encourage you connect to a foreign vpn and search for US news. This is not a democracy.
Why is computer science and coding still necessary? Because artificial intelligence is incapable of creating anything new. It repurposes, badly. So if we stop coding and teaching CS, weβre saying we already wrote all we needed to write and thereβs nothing new to be done/found/created.
A parking spot? We gotta pay to play. No joke, parking is not included where I work. We can pay monthly for the privilege and thereβs a waitlist.
If a sitting president can openly muse about arresting and disappearing someone who is likely to become mayor of the country's largest city, while also getting the funding for a massive secret police, it'd be hard to find sufficient evidence to qualify that country as a democracy.
Every time I read something from him or hear him speak, I am reminded that he is not, and has never been, an educator. And my anxiety as a student would have been intense if I was monitored like that all the time. Can't get tired, or have a bad day because the AI will tell my parents!
AI agents are programmed to be as bad as they are. When someone says they are "surprised" the models blackmail, I question whether they understand that AI is programmed by humans. It is the humans behind that behavior. fortune.com/2025/06/23/a...
NPR Migrants Captured In Libya Say They End Up Sold As Slaves March 21, 2018 6:27 AM ET Heard on Morning Edition By Ruth Sherlock, Lama Al-Arian
Today the GOP justices on the Supreme Court endorsed migrants being sold into slavery.
They'll claim otherwise, but that's the reality β today's decision permits Trump to send people from countries around the world to any global hellhole that accepts a U.S. financial incentive.

My end of year present from a student was one of those desk name things but instead of my name, it said βDo I look like Google?β
Someone responded to one of my linkedin posts that they never developed the ability to summarize so AI was a game changer for them. First, thatβs not a great admission for a professional to make. Second, if you guessed they were an AI company founder, youβre right. Blocked and deleted. 0 patience.
There are entire math classes that also are not using textbooks. Just a mix and match of online tools, printout of exercises, and good vibes. Books, fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, are critical to learning. I don't know when we forgot that.
Agreed.
My favorite TV show has a line that says "Cut off the head, and the body will flounder." (Supernatural, Leviathans story line, don't judge) If anyone is wondering why the Harvard target, this is the reasoning. They think to topple higher education, they just have to topple Harvard.
Thank you, Netflix for saving Sesame Street. Now please do the right thing and keep that program free for all families. Do not put it behind the paywall.
We really messed up using the word intelligence in artificial intelligence. The thing isnβt intelligent at all. Itβs all algorithms and decisions are made by the instructions in the algorithm. I need people to understand there is 0 actual intelligence or thinking involved.
You'll then find us BOTH at #CSTA2025 in Cleveland, OH July 8-11 and I'll then head to #RESPECT2025 in Newark, NJ July 14-16. We cannot wait to share all things #CMUCSAcademy with you and the work we do in CS education globally. See you at one or more of our summer stops! (2/2)
Timothy Barnes and I will be at multiple conferences for our #CMUCSAcademy project this summer, so come joins us! We will BOTH be at #WeTeach_CS in Austin June 9-10. Then I'll head to the #CSforAtlanta InnovateCS Summit June 17-18 while Tim will head to #EdCon 2025 in Chicago June 16-18. (1/2)

Please read the doctor visit summaries thoroughly. Many are no longer asking if they can use AI transcribers so I haven't been able to opt out. I've had to correct my medical record twice recently because the AI misheard medication names, so my prescriptions and instructions were incorrect.
